Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I wouldn't mind that trade! We need more picks, but I really want Okung

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Nice thread, something to look forward to on draft night.
I personally don't see Cleveland moving up for anyone but Bradford. Claussen should fall to them at 7 regardless, and I believe Holmgren won't take him if he is there. I think Seattle will jump on T.Williams at 6 if he is there. The Skins should select Okung over anyone else in my opinion. I know the Raiders aren't happy with Thomas Howard, and the staff doesn't seem enamored with Rocky, very similar players. McIntosh would fit their system as a weak-side linebacker, and Howard might be a better fit as a 3-4 inside backer for us. Any trade involving these 2 teams should also include these 2 linebackers. |

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
If we do trade back I think we should prepare for Charles Brown but hope for Williams.

Yep, I think I would....There is some o/l dept in this draft. We have some holes that need to be filled, especially for this 3-4 we about to incorporate into our defense. Thanks Haslett.....our defense is already straight. All we needed to do was tweak it. More agressiveness, better disguises, take away the 25 yard cushion the CBs we're given and add a couple of LBs. Naw, we gotta give our defense a dam face lift in the very first year, knowing dam well we dont have no where near the personnel that we need for this switch over. Now the best DTwe've had in the last God knows how many years is pissed and ready to leave. I HATE this shit.... |

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Not for nothing, but if Okung is that perennial pro-bowler at LT that most 'experts' predict, then we should be happy to solidify that position with him. Extra draft picks can come from other trades, but I hope we just take Okung, and not have to worry about the position for a long time.
For me, I would rather have 1 great player over 2-3 good players. Lock that critical position down with a stud, and grab solid players via trades, free agency, and good scouting. |

I'd rather take Brown late in the first and have more picks to use in the 2nd and 3rd than take Okung and sit there until the 4th

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Someone mentioned that we might trade the 4th for Cleveland's 7th and 2 3rds? Does that sound like a good deal? I would much rather take one 2nd than two 3rds

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I think they meant Clevlands 1st round (7th pick) and 2 3rds.

"Your" saying we trade with the Eagles and pick up their: #24 #37 #55 and McNabb? but, whoever wrote the HailRedskins thread wrote that we would get: McNabb #37 #55 Basically they would be getting two first rounders. They would keep our #4 and their #24. Maybe I read both wrong but you and he seem to be writing different scenarios. On another note, Why are people so fascinated with Okung? Anybody stop to think maybe certain players might possibly not be best suited for either Shanahan's style of offense? Just because it's not the top pick on everyones wish list? If Williams is who the Skins are targeting and they draft him and Okung is still on the board are you guys going to throw a hissy fit? If Williams is truly being targeted then let the coach's do their job. Be happy they picked up an OL, cause honestly I'd still be trying for Clausen or Bradford. JC will be gone. Nothing about Grossman makes me feel comfy. McNabb will be around maybe 3-4 yrs before it's time to get younger and Brennan and Bartel don't scream franchise in the waiting. and yes for those very smart people "be glad I'm not the HC." lol. |

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
John Clayton just brought up the point on the radio that we shouldn't get greedy and just take the tackle. I personally think about it like this. Say you get a first and a second to trade down from #4. If you wouldn't be able to trade those two players you get in the trade down for the guy you would have selected at 4 three years from now then it's not worth it.

We threw away so many draft picks it's shameful. You never recover from bad trades, no matter what happens.

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
Hopefully we have people in the building that know how valuable the draft picks are and soon we'll be the ones with more then 7 picks in a draft.
or no draft at all and we can pick up whoever we want. |

Re: Draft News for the Warpath
I'd cash in on Clevelands offer in a heartbeat, even if it's Cleveland's 1st and a 2nd. We'd still get T. Williams at a more reasonable slot, gain a 2nd and finally fill the FS spot. In my opinion, T. Williams has a little more upside in terms of athletic ability, but overall Okung is the better player.
