To rebuild a team you need draft picks to draft talented young players unless you want them to fire everyone over a certain age for undrafted players.

I've said this over and over but I'd get as many young guys on the field now as possible and clean house when the season is over.
I think management is aware that they have to get rid of players like Rabach, Daniels, Galloway, Holliday, Hunter Smith, Carter, etc. Right now they are like "rental" players. I recall saying that the right side of the OL needed to be shuffled and some said with who? Well guess what? It worked for one game and hopefully will be good for the rest of the season. Rabach and Hicks needed benching, but in this case was due to attrition.

Carter would be relevant right now if we were still in the 4-3.

But would we still be screaming for landry to be cut?

Its a win now league and I have no problem with that. If a team makes the playoffs and gets hot anything can happen just ask the Cards. No matter what happens they are going to dump a lot of over-paid underperformers.

I agree.....This could spell the end for many of this new "over the hill gang" If it takes injuries to make it happen then so be it. This group looks very slow in comparison to the more youthful teams around the league. Even when they're fortunate enough to win a game, they look far less than impressive. Their best work is on display when the opposition plays a game of self-destruct. No better example than yesterday.

If you can get the 5th seed instead of the 6th seed, you get to go to <NFC West winner> instead of Green Bay. Even if the Eagles are extending their lead on us to the point where they are putting away the division in November, that 5th seed is out there for the taking with the Saints and the Bucs sitting at three losses each. Both those teams are going to take their share of defeats in the second half.

The thing is Rocky shouldn't even be playing inside. No way is be big and sturdy enough to be playing inside backer in a 3-4. I don't understand why Blades and Riley aren't playing inside and move Rocky outside.

Thank god, I thought I was the only person who questioned this! I kept my mouth shut because he was putting up the tackle #s to justify being in the middle.

Blades and Riley aren't that much different in size than Rocky.
Rocky: 6-2 239
Blades: 5-10 242
Riley: 6-0 238

If anything, Alexander should be moved inside (6-1, 272) and Rocky outside. I don't know the nuances of the 3-4 like some do here, but wouldn't that be a closer role to how he was used in the 4-3 as the will LB while also putting a bigger body in the middle to take on guards?

Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity

Well I wouldn't say that the only reason our offensive line looked good today was the switching up; they were run-blocking effectively before AND after the injuries. The eagles have a good defensive line - the giants are having a real tough time running the ball right now, and I would say that's the main reason the line looked so much better today.

And you guys really have to have more faith in the coaching staff. They see the young guys playing in practice every day. I doubt kyle shanahan is thrilled to have galloway involved so much in the passing attack, but if he's our best option to win then I think it's the right move to play him over, for example, terrance austin. Also, there's much less of a distinction than you might think between "win now" and "rebuilding."

Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity

Pretty sad that it takes injuries to see how bad some players have been. I don't know crap next to these coaches but I knew that Rabach has been trash. Why do I have the feeling that if Casey can go, he will be back at the anchor.

Being a Redskins fan is so effing painful...

Let's hope they do the right thing and ride the hot hand with the OL. Rabach, Hicks, and Lich have been together for half a season and the patchwork interior of Lich, W. Monty, and Heyer outperformed them by a mile. LOL
If Fat Andy could swallow his pride for Kolb, let's hope to dear God Shanahan does the same.
