Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I'm ok with stability, I like the way we're building the team this offseason, nothing really splashy, but solid football choices so far.

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
Has there ever been any indication that Doug Williams knows anything at all about player personnel? Did i hear you say "No"? Well, that's great then! He's the perfect empty suit with no power to occupy a meaningless title under the autocratic rule of Bruce Allen. Allen has what he wants now. Let's see how he performs without a blueprint from Scot M.

I'm sure Doug Williams is a nice person. He is always sharply dressed and well groomed, too.

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I was extremely irritated by the press conference. The moves are all fine, they basically formalize the way the 'Skins have basically been operating since McC left. But in the press conference Bruce Allen was incredibly vague about the org structure despite being pointedly asked by Liz Clarke to explain how the hierarchy is set up. And when asked who will have say on various matters, he continues to use the vague phrase "it will be a Redskins decision".
That dancing around just irks me. He's intentionally obfuscating the delineation of responsibility so that everyone remains fuzzy as to whether he deserves credit for successes / blame for failures. It sounds like Scott Campbell has been elevated and I expect him to mostly continue to craft the draft board. Doug's strength is said to be evaluation of character, work ethic, the intangibles. I don't think I want Doug setting the draft board, but I don't think he will. And I think Gruden will continue to be listened to, which is good. So the moves are all fine, I just f'ing hate Allen. He's such a snake. Keep the picture fuzzy so that if it goes well you can claim the success as your own, and if it goes poorly then you can point the finger at others.

I'd be interested to know what Williams, Schaffer, Campbell say about him when he's not around. I can't imagine they like him, and know he'll blame them as soon as things go wrong. Williams is a Skins hero, Allen, you're not. Tread very lightly.

I wish Bruce would just take the GM job himself. Give him 2-3 years where he is in full control (publicly not just privately). If he has success then great, otherwise he will be accountable for the failure and we can get rid of him. But that won't happen... The more likely scenario in 2 years: "We thank Doug for his service to the organization. Unfortunately the results have been sub-standard, so we felt it was best for the Redskins to make a change. We wish Doug all the best in his future endeavors." |

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I should have taken your advice. What a waste of internet space.
This basically sums it up(from the article): A year later the GM is gone, coach Jay Gruden is replacing both his coordinators, the quarterback’s future is murky, and D.C. Drama is back. Ok McC got fired? Personally I think he did some good but he was not lighting it on fire; I think this 17 off season has been better then last year.'s off season. McVay left for a HC position, not sure how that is the Skins fault? Actually shows we are grooming coordinators for HC positions; Berry was done with whether McC was here or not, it was a bad hire; is King suggesting we should have kept Berry? Now that been a bad move.We sign KC by 7/15 this off season just got even better. Yeah so I guess the "drama" is back; whatever. The bad press this franchise gets is amazing over nothing.

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
King can personally kiss my ass. But the fact that he's an asshole, and yet they followed Scots draft board tells me even more about how much he craves credit. I think we'll be fine, not because of Bruce, but we have the right people in place to none of Bruces credit. If Cousins had been taken care of instead of this dream that we needed RGIII, none of this BS with Cousins would still be going on. A good "President" of a football team would not have us in this predicament. If you want to let your discontent with King cloud your judgement about Bruce, be my guest.

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
I'm not altogether against some of the changes we've made. In fact I'm very happy we have a DL coach who may be the best in the business. As far as the FA moves we've made, they were on Scots board, not Bruce Allens. I DO remember how happy we were with hiring Scot. Don't remember the same feeling with hiring Bruce. Personally I don't give a shit about who gets the credit as long as we win. I think we're on the right path. Maybe Bruce isn't a complete idiot and actually learned something. I know what the players said, and that means more to me than an egomaniac looking for praise. And that includes Peter King. But it's nice to hear the feedback. Playing devils advocate reveals a lot of opinions you wouldn't always see. HTTR!!!

Re: Redskins Make Changes to Front Office Structure
If there was a power struggle between McC and BA for praise; well that would make them both egomaniacs. BA just happen to win and McC got the boot.
As far as it was "Scott's board" for FA and Draft; lets be honest that is speculation not fact. In all of this I think Gruden's role is very underrated; it would be a much bigger blow to this organization to lose JG over McC. I am also not saying losing McC doesn't hurt; I just think some folks put him at the Jesus level when in reality he was doing Altar Boy level work; good not great.

To me it seems that he's going to have more of a saying on personnel matters (than perhaps before). I don't think that he (Gruden) had any issues with McC (as I thought before), but I just feel that he is in a better position within the organization (including an extension) than he was before. Aside from contract/money screw ups, which fall in Allen's territory (but he's actually done well in this area I believe), the talent acquisition and performance will fall more on Williams and Gruden.
