Re: Redskins News & Notes Chapter 6
Yeah and apparently RG3 will be playing at the same exact level that he did as a rookie. He won't be improved in making reads and getting the ball out quicker. And the coaches won't adjust the offense any to stay a step ahead of the defenses.

I don't know why the pundits and mags don't see this fact. Personally, I don't think Dallas has the talent it used to, but it clearly isn't a team first environment. When I look at Dallas, I see the Skins of last decade, with a better qb. The Giants understand the team concept, and it took them to the SB 2 times with an effective qb. Our team is sold on it, and we have both an elite/superstar qb, and a backup who has so far seemed to be at least effective, if not above average. Griffin may get hurt again - I hope not because watching him play is so exciting, and even inspiring - but I don't think that dooms the team, I think the players would rally, and step up even more. We saw it last year. I don't know how long a cohesive team stays together in the modern NFL, but to this point our FO, coaching, and players all are acting like they get the importance of it. |

In the New Orleans season opener, I was amazed how well Griffin was throwing the slant pass, threading the needle, especially on play-action. As the season went on, Griffin kept zipping the ball in there just out of reach of defenders hands (our R's did a great job reaching up and behind to grab some of those fastballs too, lol) And LBs and safeties were jumping on those routes more and more. By then I figured it was luck that we weren't getting picked off, and worried we were gonna get our receivers killed and give INTs because defenses had figured it out. Yet Griffin kept throwing and beating defenders, and I finally realized "Wow, it's not luck. RGIII really is that good." Maybe the "TV talking heads" see those risky passes, the way he fakes people out with the handoffs, and thinks like I had that defenses will figure it out. And maybe the TV folk haven't realized like I have (and probably everybody here figured out before I did, lol) that yeah RGIII isn't perfect, but how he did it last season, was because he really is that good. 102.4 QBR as a rookie. 3rd highest QB rating in the NFL. Just simply phenomenal!

Re: Redskins News & Notes Chapter 6
I kept my ESPN The Magazine 2012 NFL preview issue from last year. I was cleaning out some old magazines last night (at the wife's request) and found it. I love to look back at their bone head predictions. The Redskins were suppose to go 2-14 according to ESPN and Dallas was suppose to win the division with the Eagles coming in 2nd.
And for all these media types that say, "NFL Defenses have had a year to figure Griffin out", I say this, the Read/Option and the playaction have been around forever and its all about getting the LBs to stay up near the line so you can throw over their head. They can't be in two places at once, so there is nothing to figure out. You either go for the fake or you don't. The only thing to figure out is if you stop the run and force the Redskins into obvious passing situations where no one goes for the play action because you know they "have " to pass. If your running game consistently gets 4-5 yards per play, you have to honor the run and the pass, which means you have to guess. Griffin has been doing this stuff since college, so its new to you as an LB but old to him, and he usually makes the right decision. |

Great response to Benoit's lame analysis of Griffin and the Skins offense:

Re: Redskins News & Notes Chapter 6
I legit think skill-set wise RGIII is probably the most gifted QB in league history. Sounds silly to say but who does he compare to? Steve Young is probably the closest. I'm not saying he's the "best" QB ever...that's a distinction indexed to quality and longevity...but rather the most gifted in terms of ability. If we can keep him healthy and put a capable team with him it is going to be magic for a long time.
