I think offiss has thrown in the towel. So, in the interests of peace , let's get back to discussing the thread topic.

I was thinking the same thing, but in the interest of not letting another thread get hijacked I was willing to let it slide, but since you mentioned it, yes I agree.

Now let's get back to speculating about our new #2 WR!

Re: Expectations for a #2 guy

I don't think that we should settle for our TE being our number 2. He is our number 1 TE, and we still need more threats beyond that illusive gold line. That being said, I feel that the prototypical 2nd wideout should above all else have excellent route running skills. That way, once Mark/Patty/Jason have exhausted their options in the play, and are looking at the 3rd progression, they can anticipate where he will be. (by third progression, i mean after moss, then cooley)

It would also be fun to have someone with the experience to come back for the ball when Mark/Pat/J is in trouble. That takes smarts, and normally a big price tag.

So I would settle for Coles back as a number 2. hhaah!

Re: Expectations for a #2 guy

People, people. We are forgetting that David Patten is on our roster. He was on IR half the season. If he was able to play, he would have taken the pressure off Moss late in the season. I think we do need another receiver, dont get me wrong. But I think we are not looking at all of our options.

We have a #2 in Patten. Us being greedy(having Gibbs allows you to do that) we want another #2 so we will be unstoppable!!!

I wonder how much of an impact Patton really had? As I mentioned above, I'm not expecting gaudy numbers from a #2 - just someone who can make the defense respect him. However, with Patton, I didn't get the impression that we actually played him very much. I have nothing to back that up, but I felt like he wasn't on the field too much.

Patten will still have a role with the team but you have to wonder if he'd be better suited as a #3.

Whatever happens, our WR depth is the main issue.

Re: Expectations for a #2 guy

I think, overall on both sides of the ball near the sidelines we had depth issues. CB and WR. I havent written Patten off yet. But stay healthy, and get open!

He was playing when he was healthy, and doing nothing. And that's a testament to both his relationship with Mark, and to his inability to get open. He might as well have not have been on the field. I always have a difficult time 100% blaming a Wideout when the Qb doesnt get him the ball when he is open.

then dono't read the thread and leave those that want to talk about to their own devices... no need to start sniping, we've got months to go.

Re: Expectations for a #2 guy

My expectations for our #2 receiver would be 600-700yds 4-5tds which would make teams recognize him instead of having Moss double even triple teamed, and I also would like to see are #2 have a wildcard skill such as kr/pr. As for Patten I think he will be a very productive #3 receiver and I expect Patten to have around 450yds in 2006. Cooley will obviously be our possesion receiver and I expect another great year from him. So I think with Moss, #2 (hoping its Randle El), Patten, and Cooley our passing game will be in the top 10 in the NFL.

Re: Expectations for a #2 guy

Couldn't leave well enough alone aaaa, Now I am going to answer this question!

I think we can expect with our new O-coor, some where around 20 TD's and defiently over 1000 yards recieving, he will also be great after the catch, and used on a lot of reverses as well. By mid season he will in all liklyhood replace Moss as our #1 WR, but Gibbs will still insist that Moss is #1 so he will never get that status he deserves. But I am really looking forward to watching him perform he will have us all on the edge of our seats week in and week out, I can hardly wait!!!!!! :headbange
