Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

Growing pains, I guess. Still a new system, and we really haven't got all the flexibility that this offesne will give us down the road. That being said, MB did NOT look good, and the o-line got bullied all game long. QBs have to make some plays when you're having trouble, and for us especially, the o-line has to be physical. Still, my guess is that down the road, Saunders will have a good feel for what to do with this group of players when they are struggling. I don't think he has that confidence yet.

Here's something to chew on (granted the numbers have changed since Sunday). And I know people will be saying "oh but that's 'cause Santana gets so many yards after the catch" To which I say, yeah but so what. Like Matty said a couple of weeks ago, it's not like Montana and Young were airing bombs to Jerry Rice. They were a lot of short to intermediary passes that put Rice in a position to be a playmaker and take off.

When Eli hit 2 deep passes...I was asking myself....Why Can't we ever take shots like that...... The Skins are 10 times as talented as the Gimps.... What's the weak link... answer that question?

well, Brunell tends to not throw long unless it's up against a sideline. think thats a fairly diplomatic way of stating that crummy fact.

Those passes looked like punts.

They both should have been picked off!

well the point was ..he attempted them and guess what they were completed....suddenly.... Sean Taylor has to be abit more careful in run support..... yes a long interception is better than a short punt......

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

Brunell is averaging more yards per attempt this year than either Peyton or Brady.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

We're not going to win many games where you only run forty plays. What else can we say about the offense for one sunday. I really don't think there's anything wrong with the offense, sunday we just got it handed to us and that's going to happen to you in this league when you don't come ready to play. It appeared as though everything was wrong because we didn't play well, and we can't get it back. Time to move on, and hope we have more positive things to say after we beat the Titans on sunday.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

You know I thought of something we did well on Sunday. The draw play. The Redskins are a very good draw team.

The year after Gibbs left, the offensive coordinator, Rod Dowhower, used to call draw plays all the time on second down and they never worked. That team was 4 and 12 and scored 10 or fewer points 9 times. I guess it could be worse.

The difference is, Peyton was behind at the end of the game on Sunday, and marched down the field and threw the game winning touchdown. Tom Brady does the same thing all the time, with far worse receivers. Most quarterbacks would kill to have the weapons that Brunell has at his disposal, and yet, he can't manage more than 100 passing yards and three points.

True, Brunell has looked inconsistent, but so has the offensive line.

Thoughts?
The Giants' offense controlled time of possession and score more times than not on offense (albeit mostly field goals.) Anytime a team's offense can keep the ball the majority of the time, and put up points on most of those possession, they're usually going to win. It takes the other team out of their gameplan.

Control the ball? Hell, they didn't punt until the 4th quarter.
