How come the cap penalty for cutting Archuleta on the CPND sheet is only $4 million, but it's $9 million on here. His says that the second bonus is an option bonus and yours says it is a signing bonus. Which one is right?

Re: Cap Room

I found an article about Archuleta's contract and it basically says that the cap sheets here are right. But it also said this:

Also, if they did release him at any point, there are "offset" clauses built into his contract that would allow for some cap credits for the Skins. Like, say he is cut in 2008 as this last scenario explained, and then gets a $1 million signing bonus someplace else. That amount would be offset from the total cap hit the Skins would take.
So would we get back whatever signing bonus the next team gives him?

Re: Cap Room

I know this thread is about Salary cap, but why are some so concerned about Dockery getting signed? Franchise tag? Transition tag? Please no.
Dockery is an average to above average guard. He is not even a top 10 guard in this league. We have a BIG history of overpaying for average FA's like Archuleta. lets not add Dockery to the LONG list of over paid Redskins.
There will be a handful rookie guards that will come out this next year that will outplay Dockery. PLEASE do not over pay for Dockery because we are scared to lose him. He is not Antonio Pierce, Champ Bailey or Freedy Smoot.

Above average to very good, actually.
We also have Todd Wade, M. Pucillo, K. Lofoto, and Jim Molinaro. Wade, imho is the best of the bunch, but I don't know how long his contract lasts.

If what JLC says is correct than I would assume the Redskins would get whatever next team gives in bonus could be used to offset the cap hit - although I doubt it would be anywhere near the bonus he is still to count against the Skins. I guess if you are another team and needed a punt team captain that would be worth the vet minimum - so maybe we are talking about a $50,000 bonus or whatever the average vet minimum contracts gets these days.

that's apparently a special clause in his contract, and not a general rule (or used very often, from what i've seen). the average vet bonus is still 40k i believe. after that point, you'd have to count the full value towards the cap instead of the vet min number (410k? or is it 450k now?).
