Why is a fracture a season ending injury?

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle

It looked really BAD at the game. I would think he's done for the year?

Thank goodness for Heyer and Wade, we should be fine.

Surgery is likely. The injury would appear to end Jansen's season.

The team will update Jansen's status on Monday.

Nothing is in stone yet...we'll know more tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle

Heyer only played because Wade was inactive since they thought Samuels could need a blow here and there and they wanted Heyer for LT. So Wade was inactive. Based on the radio reports Wade most likey starts now at RT. Not Heyer. He did a good job in any case though.

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle

From Redskins.com it sounds more like a season ender. This sucks balls!!!!! We can't afford to keep losing linemen every week. So far it looks like we can be in the thick of it all. Philly isn't so tough and both the Gmen and Dallas don't have much of a D.

If JJ is gone for the season I would not be surprised if its the end for him. He's old and constantly hurt. Too bad.

I'm thinking the same thing, especially if it looks like Heyer can be good.
If this is the case, I'd love for Jansen to stick around the team in some capacity.

Well, he's not really old at all. Lineman can play well into their thirties and be effective.

I think the bigger question is does he have the fortitude to rehab and come back next year or the year after. But if he wants to, I think he can recover and play again.

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle

big loss for the team, but we do have wade and heyer looked good. wade is a tackle rather than a lg, obviously so i think he might get the start there next week.

From what I hear, Wade is getting the nod over Heyer next week.

Thats who I would go with. Heyer did a good job, but Wade has much more experience and there's a reason why we extended his contract. Make him earn his paycheck.

Wade stepped in for a game last season and did really well. Some might say that he's a better pass blocker than Jansen.

Still, I hope Jansen has a quick recovery. I saw a picture of the injury and it hurt just looking at it.

Did anybody really think he had a shot at playing again this season? I knew he was gone the moment I saw it on TV. In fact, I was thinking possible career-ender.

I guess you might think he could come back if you didn't get a look at the ankle.

It was a compound fracture, he was bleeding because the bone broke through the skin. The foot was turned at exactly a 90 degree angle to the right. It was Theismannesque, but I guess nobody got a good look at it?
