Thank you!! He should have retired with dignity last year.

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

If I was Minnesota I'd take Favre and try to get him over Vick or Derek Anderson and anyone but perhaps Jeff Garcia. Minnesota is a good team with a terrible Tarvarius Jackson. Terrible. And sportscurmedugeon I take issue with several of your points. Tarvarius is NOT better than Frerrotte, Brunell, and etc. He will not start for the Vikings in 2009! Bring FAVRE to MINNESOTA!!! If not Favre look for Garcia to end up there. Vikes need QB help immediately!

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

Favre's right on par with Ferotte in terms of TD-INT ratio. 22 Tds with 22 picks is nothing impressive when the other QBs who threw for an equal amount of or more TDs as Favre have fewer picks, with Cutler being the closest to him, and even that gap is by 4 INTs. The last thing any offense needs is a turnover machine, and that's what Favre's become now. 6 of his picks came in the 1-10 range or behind the line of scrimmage.

Minnesota will probably make a run at Grossman or Kerry Collins. Or look at possibly trading for any number of back-up QBs itching for their chance...again: Anderson, Leinart, Losman, Rosenfels

1. You haven't watched NFL football games for very long, or

2. You need to hold your breath because there are some bad QBs out there that you are about to see.
Tarvaris Jackson is better than Bruce Gradkowski and Ken Dorsey.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Kellen Clements.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Cleo Lemon.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Dan Orlovsky, Drew Stanton and the other Lions' QB whose name escapes me at the moment.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Jordan Palmer.

Tarvaris Jackson is about the same as Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Patrick Ramsey.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Mark Brunell.

Those are just a few of the people currently employed in the NFL as QBs who are not as good as Tarvaris Jackson and who play worse than he does.

If you want to go back into history to find some truly bad QBs, start by looking through the ranks of those who have played QB for the Chicago Bears since Sid Luckman retired in the 50s.

The Vikings should be looking to upgrade the QB position in the off-season but keep in mind that they can do worse than what they have...
Dude he is not better than Brunell. Granted he wasn't the greatest towards the end of his carreer, but look at overall numbers and they are pretty damn good.

In 2007 and 08, Tarvaris Jackson is a better QB than Mark Brunell. And he will be better than Brunell in 2009 too. Brunell went over the waterfall somewhere around the middle of 2006.

maroonandblack30:

JaMarcus Russel starts most of the time for the Raiders. Tarvaris Jackson is as good as Russell and maybe better.

Shaun Hill started most of the later games this year for the 49ers. Is he that much better than Jackson? I think they are equally mediocre/suub-par.

If you call Alex Smith or JT O'Sullivan the starting QB for the 49ers, then Jackson is better than both of them.

Brodie Croyle was the starter in KC until he was hurt. Jackson is not worse than Croyle - - he's not much better either.

Tyler Thigpen took over for Croyle. Jackson is probably a bit worse than Thigpen but not a lot.

None of the Browns' QBs - as in not a single one of the four who started games thie year - showed in 2008 that they were any better than Tarvaris Jackson except for the fact that two of them (Anderson and Quinn) both make tons more money than Jackson does.

Remember, I said that Jackson was not a good NFL QB and may never turn into one. But he isn't the worst QB in the NFL and he isn't the worst starting QB in the NFL.

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

I'd still rather take my chances with a 38 year old Brunell over Jackson if I had one game to win.

First of all if we look career-wise it is not even a comparison. Otherwise the old Brunell vs Tavaris are quite similar. 04 was just a terrible year for Brunell's otherwise consistent performance. The numbers would be even higher if it weren't for that

Brunell

completion %:59.6
Tds:182
Ints: 106
tds/ints:1.72
rating: 84.2

Brunell as a Redskin:
completion %:56.6
Tds:38
Ints: 20
tds/ints:1.9
rating: 78.77

Jackson 07 and 08:
completion %: 58.65
Tds:18
Ints: 14
tds/ints:1.29
rating:83.1

Good Lord Brunell was bad w/ us. Considering how much of an upgrade JC has been (and the numbers can't relate the mobility factor) one might think the kid could catch a break.

he wasnt as bad as you think just one REALLY bad year in 04.

Brunell 04
comp %: 49.8
Tds:7
Ints:6
rating:63.9

Without this year, in 05 and 06 Brunell had around a 60 % completion and 85 % QB rating. Pretty darn good. SC is probably going to say it is unfair to take away that first year, but I did take away Tavaris' first year as a rookie.

If we include those numbers(which are terrible) Tavaris' numbers drop pretty quickly.

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

You lock up one thread about a QB you might as well lock this one up also.

For the same reasons you all don't want Vic and his issues, I don't want Favre and his....(I'm not sure if I'm coming back) issues. Save the drama for some other team.

Lock it up! ..or do we have to wait and get to page 5 first.

I thought this thread was about Favre going to Minny?

Isn't this move shady as hell?
-and i like Favre seriously, the only non-Redskins jerseys i have are Favre (GB) and Moss (Vikings)
Am i the only that thinks that Favre played the Jets for fools?

Well the Jets are the one that released him, no? And I think the Jets wanted to move on with Sanchez.

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

Let's keep the Favre discussion here for now

http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-l...ree-agent.html

No need to bump up this old thread and cause confusion with multiple Favre threads running at the same time
