I agree, CP knows he works for DS (not Zorn as it should be) and DS will back him no matter what.

The bottom line is Riggo is a super bowl champion, hall of famer and the guy who made maybe the biggest play in Redskin history. CP has played in 4 playoff games with a grand total of 214 yds and 0 TDs. I have no problem with Riggo being critical of CP.

I guess this is proof of how PFT works. Truth or not some people take this stuff and run with it.

Yeah for someone who "doesn't give a shit" he sure seems to go out of his way explaining himself.

Florio = the Perez Hilton of the NFL.

Seriously. It's not like CP went after him hard. All he said was that he was trying to stir things. Stop the presses! That's half of what Florio does.

Thanks for not answering my question, wouldn't have expected you to

I think both Riggins and CP march to the beat of their own drummer and speak their mind, no matter who's listening (or not listening).

Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?

I found this to be a tad ironic:
Quote:
  • Len Pasquarelli - Florio often alleges that Pasquarelli, a senior ESPN.com writer, defends players represented by certain agents by writing overly positive articles in an effort to help out the player and thus the agent. Florio claims that Pasquarelli does this to keep on the agents' good side so that the agents will continue to supply Pasquarelli with inside information. PFT often refers to Pasquarelli as "Pastabelly"[3] and "Don Vito". PFT has also alleged that Pasquarelli has a bias against the Washington Redskins, writing columns that have criticized the organization, the death of Sean Taylor, the second retirement of Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs, and owner Daniel Snyder. He later admitted that his attacks were "in the early days when we we're trying to get noticed."[4]

I agree that they both march to the beat of their own drummer however I dont think Riggio cared if anyone was listening. IMO, CP does his silliness because he's so insecure that he craves attention. CP would be very upset if the media ignored his antics.

Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?

I love CP's caveated statement in the Times:

"How this story came about, I have no idea," Portis said. "There's nothing going on. There's no beef between me and Coach Zorn. We're on good terms at this present moment. There's no problem."

I hope CP & Zorn stay on good terms for a lot longer than "this present moment".

Two different worlds. If we had the reporters snooping around back in the 70's and 80's like we do today people would be shocked at what went on. All this reporting is turning men into little wimps because they cannot say how they feel without some nosey reporter blowing things up. Who gives a crap what CP says as long as on Sunday he puts on his gear and plays his best. Back in the days you had a ton of players who played with other guys they hated and it never seemed to be a problem. I bet if these reporters acked like this back then a few would get their butts kicked by a player or two.

Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?

Whether PFT has reliable sources or not, the tone of Portis' comments in the wash times is a bit crypitc, as Slingin sammy noted. He kind of says he's had issues w/Zorn but now they're "trying."

I do think this could be an issue in the season, but the good news is that maybe dealing w/it early on will lead to some sort of improved communication once the games begin. I think the real test will be Zorn giving about 15 -20% of CP's carries to Betts. I think CP carries it too much & needs to be saved for late in the year, but I don't think he wants to give up his #s.

Re: What is Portis' Motivation for This?

Time will tell if florio's telling the truth when the redskins lose or struggle for the first time because of offensive problems (particularly in the running game). But hopefully this won't be revealed for awhile because that would mean that they are winning and/or doing well in the running game.

I'd like to see Portis in a Detroit Lions uniform, to be perfectly honest!
