I'm glad were playing some tough defenses to be honest. 3/4 of our preseason opponents have GREAT defenses (Car, Pit, Bal), and Cinci dosent have a half bad unit either. I think this will help test our first team offense, so that they can bring their game up to the next level. During the regular season, we dont face that many REALLY dominant defenses. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that all three of those teams we play in preseason, are better than ever single defense we play. Philadelphia is the only real exception I'm looking at.

The game in its entirety can only be seen on Monday on the NFL Network, for those of us outside the Washington viewing area.

Re: Redskins v Panthers pre-game thread

1st off, none of the local washington area channels are carrying it? I have DirecTV and I don't think I get comcast sporst net...

What I really want to see from this game, is Rufus Brown show a glimpse of what he did in NFLE. I also want to see absolutely nothing flashy from the first string offense. Save the new stuff for when it counts.

But most of all I want Brunell to suck and for Bryson Spinner to dominate when and if he gets a chance, so that we'll be more motivated to get rid of old Mark. I think us passing on Spinner for Brunell will be something that could seriously come back to haunt us, no matter what it costs.

Also I think I'm gonna be laughing when the backups try to throw against us. Our D is so stacked and deep that I think we're gonna crush them in the second half. Omar Stoutmire and Pierson Prioleau could feasably be starters on most NFL teams. Along with our backup Linebackers.

I can't imagine them pushing Brunell aside for Spinner. Ramsey is still rather raw as an NFL QB and Campbell is a rookie. So your third QB should be a veteran who's been through the highs and lows and can help guide the young QBs (Ramsey and Campbell). Spinner can't do that.

Well we've all seen what Brunell can do. He's further removed from playing than Musgrave. I just really want to see spinner play for the team. He's a local kid like that baber cat. Also (situational, I know) he looked better than campbell in camp.

I don't know. I think Spinner is probably looking at the practice squad, if anything, this year

Yeah I could see that... just so long as he doesn't go anywhere. I don't see us needing to activate him or anything... it's probably more of the sentiment that he plays for his local team than anything. Well that and we're tying up a roster spot with brunell that we shouldn't be...

Re: Redskins v Panthers pre-game thread

First off....Hell I am just happy that football season is just around the corner. I would like to take this time and wish guys good luck on the season and to be injury free. Now, with that out of the way... IMO I feel this is the best Defense the Panthers have ever had so get ready Redskins.

I am not to much worried about the score myself but I do wanna see some productivity out of our guys...being it Offense and Defense. Good Luck you guys.

BTW Thanx for Gardner I think he is gonna contribute a lot to the Panthers this year.

Re: Redskins v Panthers pre-game thread

please please please dont be the "(matt hasslebeck/spinner/other guy unlikely to make the team) is our lord and savoir" guy this preseason ctt

brunell is too expensive to ditch right now, spinner will either be on the practice squad (if he does something amazing) or be shown the door... if he does make the PS, that probably means that gibbs is planning on ditching ramsey or brunell at season's end (since GW likes storing tons of dbs and lbs there). We already got one QB thats not going to play for 1-3 years.

regardless of score or who shows what, NO INJURIES!

still, deep throws would be nice, and seeing 50/50 do his "thang".

You guys aren't understanding the context of the conversation here lol. I'm nowhere near saying anything about NEEDING spinner, but I'd like to see him make the team. I believe the question asked what would you like to happen in the game and honestly I'm a softy and would like to see a hometown boy go in and play his ass off and do well and earn a roster spot or a spot on the practice squad. I saw the guy throwing around in camp last week and he looked good. I understand that Brunell was too expensive, but just because it costs alot to cut off a tumor doesn't mean that you don't do it.

Veteran leadership is important to joe gibbs, but what kind of leadership can you get from a guy who can't play, that you'd be willing to give up a roster spot just to have him around. We brought in a fairly young QB's coach for that, and we have so much young untainted talent on our team that I hate wasting a roster spot on Brunell.
