Redskins v Panthers pre-game thread

It's that time again, time for our first pre-game thread of the season!

Discuss the game here, make predictions, what are you looking for from the Skins this week, etc.

So enough with TO, enough with extremeskins, let's get back to talking some football!

I think that our starters will struggle against Carolina's starting defensive unit. I think it is important to get a good running game going to give Patrick some time to throw and make some completions (hopefully some down the field). I also want to see Antonio Brown return some kicks and punts. This guy can break it almost everytime he touches the ball. He will give our offense a shorter field for our offense to work with all year.

GO SKINS!!!!
10-6
PLAYOFFS!!!

On D I would like to see them pick up were we left off last season and see ST elevate his game to the next level. On the O side I'll be looking for good QB protection, the passing game to take some deep shots and for some zone blocking for Portis. I would also like to see our short yardage game to improve.I would also like to see our special teams to help with field position. I have othe wishes but this would be a good start.

This will be an excellent litmus test for our O-line. Carolina has one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL; maybe the best. It is only the preseason but establishing ourselves up front will go on Saturday, I believe, a long way into establishing our identity in the upcoming season.

Let's also see a "3 and 5" where J. Delholme fires a 6 yard out to Gardner who then promptly drops it. A classic "buyer be ware". (maybe also while getting straight hammered by ST)

I'm sticking with my opinion that CAR got the better end of the deal in the trade for Gardner. Maybe we should've held on to 50/50 for a few more weeks. Guys are starting to have season ending injuries already.

Re: Redskins v Panthers pre-game thread

With this being the 1st preseason game, I'm not expecting much from either team. The biggest concern is injuries. Remember, it was our 1st preseason game last year when big Jon went down. NO INJURIES is the mantra. Otherwise, no "coming together" or "gelling" can take place. Panthers fans can relate with this too. They were just racked with hurts last year.
Good luck to the teams and I hope Rod has a good game. He got hosed in the Dallas game last year.

It's the preseason, so I don't care about the score. Frankly, anything that happens in the second half will just be filler.

I would like to see Gardner drop one, for old times' sake.

BTW, T.O. is now a mod at Extremeskins. Thought you'd want to know.

Apart from the obvious no injuries I want to see Nemo. Sounds like he could be a real sleeper

Re: Redskins v Panthers pre-game thread

I don't see Carolina having much of an offense against our D. Even when our 2nd and 3rd stringers come in, we all know how Williams operates, so I don't see Carolina getting more than 7 (if that). I DO think that our passing game may not be where we want it to be, however I think that Portis will run all over them and that Cooley will be significant. Our special teams will be the difference in the game. I REALLY do feel Brown breaking one.

I also want to know if Brown will be playing with 2nd or 3rd string because I think he'll go ass-crazy if he has someone like Ramsey or Campbell throwing to him.

they'll get over 7, our dbs are hurt and they've got a decent passing game.

If by decent, you mean it's about average...
...possibly 50/50?

And more than anything I just want to see us GO downfield. Whether they catch it or not, just show that we have the balls to do it.

I also agree with TAFKAS about Nemo. I keep hearing all these things and I can't wait to see what all the hype is about.
