Re: WR McCardell considering return to NFL with Redskins, Texans

I like this idea. IMO, there is only 1 player that would be threatened by this; Loyd. He's the one w/a lot to prove.

I think a lot of us here are assuming that Espy can really make it in the nfl. I hope he does & its w/us, but he didn't make the roster last year & we still don't know if he has it. He could be another McCants or D. Thompson, guys that had their moments but turned out to be avg. nfl players if that.

Thrash on the other hand has had a great career as a #2, #3 wr, even as a #1 in Philly (not saying much given they had FredEx & Pinkston). He's a core Skins, spent his early years here & Gibbs loves him. He also outplayed Loyd last year & plays spec. teams well. Can't believe anyone can think we'll get rid of him.

Taking into consideration Moss's injury history and the fact that he's rehabing his hammy now is reason to bring in a safety vet to push the others WR to excel. I like the move, he's like having Patten but has more talent.

I have no problem with this if it can be done on the cheap, with a heavily incentive based contract. Good insurance policy. We have...............one proven starting reciever at this time. Hopefully, one of our existing guys or new guys will step to the plate. No guarantee.

McCardell is along the lines of Andre Reed, Flipper Anderson, Alvin Harper, Irving Fryar. Guys in the twilight of their career who were looking to extend their career. And while he's 2 years removed from 70-917-9, I think the focus should be on grooming the younger guys. With Moss and Cooley and Portis/Betts, Campbell has 3 solid go to guys to catch the ball.

I wouldn't be opposed to adding McCardell at the veteran minimum, however it would all depend on which player's spot he gets.

Trying not to hijack the thread here, but do any of us believe players are "all natural?" Seem's pretty apparent that the testing is spotty and most players know when it's coming. HGH is impossible to detect through testing, you essentially have to catch the player taking it to bust them.

I like McCardell except for his age and payout. With the receivers we already have, I'm just concerned with how/where he would fit in, and what role he would play. We just released an aging vet. in David patten whose contribution was limited due to the fact he didn't play teams. For me the question is: At this stage of his career, how much does he have to offer that would upstage any of the younger players we have.

He could well buy us time until the next star can step from the pack of guys we already have, or soon to be Skins

The players that are in the NFL would be there whether they were taking something or not. Why is it that whenever someone looks a little different they are always accused of taking something???? Why is it as fans do we give a damn? Trust me on this becasue I am an avid weightlifter, if you work out hard and eat the right foods, you can change your body within a few months. Brandon Lloyd could easily put on 10-15 pounds by eating the right foods and training hard. I get soooooooo tired of people always going on assumptions. Even if Lloyd was taking something illegal, it's not like HGH or steriods (or even insulin which is the most powerful hormone in the body) will automatically make you bigger. You STILL have to train hard and eat right or these drugs will do NOTHING for you. There is no such thing as a miracle drug.

Instead of assuming something we have no proof of, how about just giving Lloyd some credit for getting himself in the best shape of his life. Let's give hime some credit just as quickly as we kill him when we acts like an a-hole.

Just makes you wonder is all.

In this day and age I think you have to question a player anytime he appears to have bulked up considerably in a short period of time. Have you seen him this year? He looks like a completely different person. I'm not saying he's definitely done anything illegal, but if you're not at least considering that possiblity I think that's pretty ignorant.

Here he is last year:

And here he is now:

Looks like he turned into David Boston overnight. Is it possible through legit hard work and nutrition? Sure. But we know it's possible through many other ways too.

He is thicker from head to toe, and his arms are definitely much BIGGER from the forearms up. He looks at least 20 pounds heavier.

You don't have any dates of these pictures. One was taken in OTA's or mini camp so it's probably sometime in the spring. But the other one was sometime last year perhaps? Let's just assume Lloyd started his training in Jan or Feb. He could easily put on weight in a time frame of 12 weeks. Like I said it's not that hard to do if you go at it real hard. I know for sure is it's not possible if your sitting around and not training and eating right. Lloyd has put in the time and hard work to bulk up. If he's using something to help him so be it. I don't care and neither should the fans cause we can't prove anything. Are you or anyone else going to care if he keeps his mouth shut, catches 80 balls for 1200 yards and scores 10 td's? Nope.
