Re: Portis Blocks Taylor
I just watched tape of this play and you are WRONG! And to be absolutely honest with you... the fact that you cannot tell the difference between the Skins sideline and the opposing teams sideline in my book says your opinions on football are a little dicey. Maybe if you didn't watch the scrambled version of NFL replay you could weigh in.

Re: Portis Blocks Taylor
Unfortunately it also sometimes seperates his shoulder, as has been noted. Of course I'd take a seperated shoulder from a clean block over poor Gramatica ending his career a few years ago celebrating.

Yes, it was along the Dolphins' sideline.

Re: Portis Blocks Taylor
After looking at it again, I totally change my view.
Clinton Portis was trying to help out Campbell and lit someone up. I said it was unnecessary at first, but Portis didn't know that. I'm not going to sit here and be an armchair judge of the play. He was trying to help out his QB, and it looked relatively clean. Props to CP, he's continually proves how much of a beast he really is. I just hope he can finish the season without being injured.

I hope you could tell, my post was dripping with sarcasm.

Re: Portis Blocks Taylor
well, your right he should shouldnt he. not to mention he chipped on the DE to create the hole, then went to the second level and buried zach thomas, and i mean pancaked his ass (with the help of someone else). i will blame betts not samuels on that one considering he did over and above. he created the hole then cleared it, and betts should of done more with it.

Re: Portis Blocks Taylor
Portis' block on Matt Roth reminded me of a few seasons back when he absolutely put Shelton Quarles to sleep in that Bucs game. Quarles hit the ground face first was lights out for a few seconds before he even moved. Great stuff. As long as he doesn't re-injure that surgically repaired shoulder, I'm all for his agressive blocking.

Re: Portis Blocks Taylor
The best blocking RB was Sweetness. In fact, during his playing days when Walter Payton was asked to envision his best play, he told the reporter it was making a devastating block on a blitzing LB and allowing his QB to throw a 90-yeard TD. This from the then-all time leading rusher. And a guy who NEVER ran out of bounds -- he would hit the DBs on the way out. Portis definitely has some of those tendencies.

Re: Portis Blocks Taylor
I have to agree, Betts does work better with screen passes than Clinton, I still favor Clinton and I hope so does everyone else. Clinton can make moves Betts can't, they can both run people over too. Both are great backs though, no question.

I totally agree with Soupermeister and Cowell. Big thanks to Earthquake for the using one of my replies as a quote.
