Re: Breaking News: Cowboys Agree to Send 4th Rounder to Titans for Pac Man
this kinda scares me b/c it gives the cowboys an X factor. if pacman comes in, gets in shape and returns to form the cowboys have bolstered their already pretty solid lineup and addressed a big need. cowboys and eagles have taken steps to better their team. i know we are not a "1 player away" team so it makes sense for us to be patient, stock up and build over the next year or two before we are a "1 superstar big contract free agency" addition team to make a real run at a SB.
plus the cowboys, as jerry jones has said, seems to do pretty well and have a huge program in place for taking problem players and getting them to focus their attention on field. not that bad of a strategy really. yes some problem players will always be problem players but a significant portion of these players act up early on in their careers when their young and newly rich then kinda wake up and mature and realize what is at stake. good move for the boys? time will tell. go skins! |

And for the record, Tank Johnson was a free agent when Dallas acquired him. He was not traded. |

So what if they lose a 4th round pick, they've drafted well in the past & can afford to gamble w/those picks. A 4th rounder for a legit man to man corner & dangerous punt returner is a bargain IF he comes back & can return to form (on field, not off). They're obviously not worried about the pr aspect. Kind of funny, until a few years ago texas stadium was a dry stadium. Now you can buy a beer there and watch near cons on probation playing football! |

I'd rather refer to him as ADAM Jones. I'm glad they got him. More reason to dislike their franchise. Adam Jones is a worthless excuse for a human being. He's a murderer, he's a criminal, and he's an all around bad human being.
I went to a Titans/Skins game a few years back. ADAM came over to talk some smack to Rock. Rock almost took his head off in pregame warmups. His teamates had to hold him back. Never really cared for the punk. |

Anywho...here is a timeline of pacman's poor behavior: Since being taken with the sixth overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, Adam "Pacman" Jones has not been able to stay out of legal trouble. April 2005 – Mr. Jones' name appears on a police report after a fight at an Atlanta strip club breaks out, but the woman involved does not pursue the case. June 2005 –Two of Mr. Jones' friends would not leave their room at a Nashville, Tenn., hotel after checkout time, prompting police to arrive. Marijuana is found on a table, but Mr. Jones' friends take full responsibility for the drugs. July 2005 –Mr. Jones is arrested on two counts of misdemeanor assault and a felony count of vandalism after an incident at a Nashville nightclub, but charges are later dismissed. February 2006 –Mr. Jones is arrested in Fayetteville, Ga., and charged with possession of marijuana. Police add felony counts of obstruction and two misdemeanors of obstructing police after throwing a punch at an officer. The drug charge is dismissed in January 2007. He received three years' probation for the other charges. March 2006 –A drug task force team serves a search warrant at the home Mr. Jones bought for his mother. An investigator notices Mr. Jones' car smells of marijuana, and Mr. Jones admits that he had been smoking. April 2006 –A vehicle registered to Mr. Jones is involved in drug trafficking. Mr. Jones had repurchased the car at an auction. Three days later, Mr. Jones is at the scene of a gunshot altercation outside a Nashville gas station. August 2006 –Mr. Jones is charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct outside Sweetwater Saloon in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Charges were later dismissed. October 2006 –After being accused of spitting in the face of a woman at a Nashville nightclub, Mr. Jones is cited on a misdemeanor assault charge. The charge is later dismissed. February 2007 –Las Vegas police allege Mr. Jones started a melee inside a club when he threw cash on a stage. Three people are wounded by gunshots, and one is paralyzed. Mr. Jones pleads guilty to misdemeanor charges in return for testimony about the shootings. January –A woman seeks an arrest warrant against Mr. Jones after an incident at an Atlanta strip club, but she later withdraws the petition. Mr. Jones loses permission to work out at the Titans' facility. April –A report surfaces that Mr. Jones paid $15,000 in "extortion" money to Arvin Kenti Edwards, who was charged with attempted murder for shootings stemming from an altercation outside a Las Vegas strip club where Mr. Jones was present.

If he doesnt play or gets in trouble again the Cowboys get the Titans 4th rounder in 2009 so it is basically no risk

Kind of like T.O.'s contract. When he signed it was still fresh in everyones mind the turmoil he caused in Philly. So even though Owens signed a 3 year deal, it was worded in such a way that it was essentially 3-one year deals, so if he raised havoc, Dallas could release him with zero cap hit. The same will be done for Jones, where if he messes up, the contract will be worded so Dallas can release him without a cap hit. This guy is a big risk, granted. But there is little reward without risk in anything. But if he gets in trouble or does not get reinstated, Dallas has lost very little, just a 4th round pick in 2008. But if that happens they will get that 4th rounder back in 2009. But look at the upside, if Jones plays and has his act together then they have legitimate depth at corner with Henry, Newman and Jones. Not to mention a pretty good return guy. However Dallas has done pretty good with 4th rounders as of late. Marion Barber and Chris Canty were both 4th round picks and now both have the high tender on them. |
