Not disgusted with DM5. He's made some plays for us that others would not have made.

Still, I wonder when he will show up. Sometimes it is like the lights are on but no one is at home.

Maybe in his second year in DC he will be more mentally present and therefore more effective.

Our OL is crap.
Anything McNabb can do to stay upright and in possession of the ball after the snap is a bonus. If we had a + average OL then you could evaluate him.

I believe he's played alot better since the benching, he moved the ball against the titans, the vikings, and giants we just started dropping balls. He's on pace for a career year in yards. He's gonna have a couple times a game he makes you scratch your head, but he is not the problem here.

Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?

Let's think realistically for a second. Jason Campbell was/is a talented player who has the physical abilities. Overall good guy and decent football IQ. If we had held on to Campbell this year, I wouldn't have been upset in the least.

However, the biggest knocks I could see on Jason Campbell, were the inability to be consistent with reading defenses, not taking a lot of chances down field (although that could have been more of a system thing,) and he's just not a leadership type of guy. Great guy though, team player, model citizen.... but I don't see him ever truly being a Warren Moon, Peyton Manning, or a Drew Brees. Definitely not a field general.

Donovan McNabb, on the other hand, has those leadership qualities. Mostly because he's had experience in the playoffs and the Super Bowl, but he's a proven winner. He also has a lot more confidence in his arm than what I saw of Campbell here. He takes more shots downfield (again, could be a system thing but anyway,) and for the most part, he's good at reading defenses and he makes more good decisions than bad.

Both QBs have faced similar situations. No offensive line, no running game, new systems, and a team that doesn't know how to win. The real deal will be comparing the two when the supporting casts are upgraded.

All in all, I still believe we upgraded by going with Donovan McNabb even though it doesn't appear so this season.

When it's all said and done maybe all we need to do is heed the advice of our owner and exhibit a little patience. This about a man who can tell you a thing or two about patience...........he he

Redskins' owner urges patience in trying season

Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?

Ultimately, I think the level of frustration w/this original post & w/us in general is that we now have a 'franchise qb' yet he's made his share of mistakes & we only have 1 more win than last year so far. i.e., we had expectations for McNabb.

In addition, like JC in 08, he had a winning record for a short time & things seemed to be on the upswing until Detroit. These last four games are pretty important for this team, but especially for McNabb. If he ends w/a bang, we'll be back to our unrealistic expectation havin selves this spring when the draft rolls around!

Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?

I'm not holding my breath on McNabb and wouldn't expect him to improve at this stage in his career. I could see a scenerio where he improves marginally based on the talent around him and being more comfortable within the system, but that's about it. Look, McNabb has been an NFL pro for a decade, so whatever NFL system he's playing in, new or not, won't dramatically improve his ability to read defenses or the mechanics of his game. They are what they are. He does look he could shed about 5 to 10 pounds though.

I guess the real question is did we get hosed on the deal? On that front it's probabloy too early to tell, but my gut as well as what I've seen from MC5 thus far tells me we got the short end of the stick. McNabb isn't too much different from Jason Campbell in that he'll do a few things well enough to string you along for another two or three games.

What I do know about McNabb is that he's not putting this franchise on his shoulders this year or next and carrying them to the promise land.

Don't get me wrong, leadership and moxy are important and something this team has lacked for years at the QB position, but at some point you've got to be more talented than the guy across from you. Sometimes you just have to line up and knock him flat on his ass, down after down. Sometimes your quarterback has to plow through that safety or juke his ass out of his cleats for that first down.

9th overall in passing for the entire NFL people. 9th . . . let that sink in.

with a crappy O line, injured rookie LT, new scheme, new coaches, UFAs platooning at runningback we are 9th in passing. and he isnt getting his passing yards on the dink and dunk YAC crap JC did, hes doing it through the air on big plays.

WOW, If you would have asked me where I think we rank in passing I would have said some where in the Twenties. Thats impressive for what our Offense is made of.

the real question there is, is that a reflection of our o doing good, or a reflection of how god awful the nfl is in general this year.

there is a damn good chance that a division winner out of the nfc has a losing record this year, let that sink in.

Haven't really noticed the NFL being awful this year?

Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?

umm okay . . . . doesnt change the fact that our passing attack is currently the best it has been in quite a long time. since we are ranked 9th overall in the league, it doesnt matter if the NFL is having a "god awful" year or not, its all relative. we are 9th in passing in a "god awful" year then. so what? there are 23 teams in that same "god awful" league that our worse than us in passing. i dont get your point. maybe if we played in the NFC west but i think your just trying to hold onto the darkness. some people can only be comfortable if they are miserable.

i think our current ranking is a reflection of 1) mcnabb's ability to create/constantly look for the big play and 2) our new coaches.

we have anthony armstrong as our no 2 receiver, let that sink in! mcnabb was credited for making no-name receivers productive in philly, now he is doing the same thing here. imo mcnabb has lived up to what i had hoped and expected of him. yeah, he has some accuracy issues but his good outweighs the bad imo.

It's all relative, LOL, I was going to say the exact same thing bro... I figured I'd give you the chance to respond first since you were quoted.
