And when it comes to Rex I would rather give Matt Lienart or John Beck a shot then go with Rex Grossman.

All of them are backups, nothing more.

I'd rather have Vince Young than those guys seriously
Forgot all about Vince put him in there too and they're all at least as good or in Vince's case better options then those suggested in the article and better then Rex.

Some fans are always gonna point the finger of blame at Campbell despite putting up decent numbers in 2009 in a nearly untenable situation his stats were nearly identical to Carson Palmer despite playing in pure chaos.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks

Some interesting guesses sent my way. One of them-no; another-maybe last year; the other-hadn't heard anything and I'd be surprised. Keep guessing

Congratulations to those of you who guessed right. Keep in mind though that this time of year info changes often as just a month ago this guy wasn't even being considered an option for us...and JaMarcus Russell was

Just because a guy was a #1 overall pick, or has had a different offensive system every year doesn't mean they will be a great QB. I think they have had the opportunity to show what they have and while they are serviceable, they have not proved they are a top level QB capable of taking a team to the next level. Is Smith paying you to do his PR?
Nope, just talking football. I don't agree with writing him off yet is all. Wherever he ends up, I think he's still got a shot to be a good QB.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks

There’s no denying that Mike Shanahan has a large ego, which has probably contributed significantly to his success as an NFL head coach (and probably contributes to the success of many other coaches). And we’ve talked in the past about how his philosophy tends to be find a player based on their best work, thinking that you consistently coach that person to that level. So if Player A is consistently reliable and Player B is erratic but shows flashes of brilliance…go with Player B. But back to the ego, I think it’s in large part to that ego that he seems fixated on finding that QB “failure” that guy who hasn’t quite lived up to expectations and turning him into a star. It’s why he’s had an on and off fascination with JaMarcus Russell since last summer (though I think that’s not going to happen…hope it’s not going to happen), it’s why someone like Locker is often mentioned as a “Shanahan type QB”, it’s why I think and have thought for a while Alex Smith must be someone on the Skins radar…and it’s why there have been serious rumors in the past few days that Vince Young is high on our radar at this time.

That said a) I haven’t been able to verify yet just how serious these rumors may be so don’t jump to any conclusions; b) I don’t know how they plan on making such a move and c) I still believe their first option is 1) find a trade partner for McNabb 2) Sign Grossman to an extension 3) Draft a QB (but not at #10).

Should I hear anything more, of course I’ll let you all know.

But given the choice-Alex Smith or Vince Young? Personally, I take...Matt Hasselbeck. No, but seriously between Smith and Young I think it's a tough call but I think I lean toward Young. Neither was really ever truly embraced by their franchises and their fans (probably Smith more so with the franchise, and Young with the fans); Young does have a winning record, but he won't be bringing Chris Johnson with him; Alex Smith is smart and seems to be a good teammate but how far is that going to take him? Both need a change of scenery in the worst way.

Re: Redskins Reconstruction: Quarterbacks

I see Vince as better fit for Mike Shanahan's playcalling style then Kyle Shanahan.
But, I like Vince better then Alex Smith.
