Re: Brian Cushing
It would have to be a trade down actually, because 13 is way too high, we don't have a 2nd round pick, and he almost certainly won't be around when we pick in the 3rd.
I'm just happy to hear that O-lineman are on the top of our draft board. Phew.

Re: Brian Cushing
I like him, and I've seen him creepin' up in the 1st round of mock drafts...but I bet if he finishes out strong this week and has a good game this weekend, and has good combine numbers in 2 months, then i could see him goin' up to mid first round...fills a need for the skins and can start all along the interior, don't need to re-sign Kendall...possibly start over Rabach, if not, then at LG...but depends how Rinehart is lookin' and if any of the top OTs are still available

Mack, Cushing, Matthews, are the three guys (best as I could figure out) that most intrigued the Skins this week. But you never know really. I think VC feels it's a pretty weak year for offensive linemen. Weak in the sense that if you don't get one early then you're pretty much wasting your time. I disagree, I think it's a very deep OL class. But I'm not calling the shots...yet ![]() Seriously though, this could mean they're thinking get that OL in the first round then trade into some point in the second and hope that Cushing or Matthews are there? Love the offseason!

Re: Brian Cushing
I would pick Mack with the 13th pick, in my opinion he's worth it. It's funny how in the old days the C was what a LT is now considered, invaluable!! I still say that as the QB of the OL, that this guy will make our OL better all around.

Re: Brian Cushing
I know. Those so called experts sometimes don't squat, Brian Bosworth, Mandarich, Couch, etc. I have a gut feeling about Mack, kinda reminds me Dermonti Dawson.

Re: Brian Cushing
Don Banks has Cushing at 14 while Rey Maualuga goes to the Broncos @ 12. Curry is in the top ten. Don't want to sound like a broken record here but i just don't see the appeal of Cushing w/ the durability issue and all.
... being that OL and LB are really the biggest needs for us (disregarding FA at this point) @ 13 we should be able to draft a game-changer at one of the two spots. There are 3 O tackles and the 2 LBs looking like early 1st round talent (leaving Cushing out)... be very, very nice if one of those fell to us. We could address the other position in FA.

Re: Brian Cushing
Kiper also has Dirty Sanchez going to the chiefs at three overall.

Re: Brian Cushing
Agreed. Last year the FO talked a lot about getting a wideout, and they did. So if this pattern stands, our first pick will be a o-lineman.

Re: Brian Cushing
Cushing, going by the clip, looks like a helluva player. He's as explosive as anyone I've seen going through the gaps and saying he looks like a tackling machine is an understatement.
My only concern with him is- his low sack and turnover production. I don't get caught up with stats too much, but I pay attention to these stats - when assessing playmaking abilities. I would like to pick up a player in this spot and foregoing need- to be able to cause turnovers and get to the quarterback. But he's still a helluva player, IMO. I'd say if you think you are over-reaching for a defensive and offensive lineman at 13, then he may be a viable option. Especially at defensive tackle, because he may be able to add to the team some of the run-support skills that a playmaking d-tackle would bring. |
