You are kind of comical though as you make excuse after excuse for Quinn and his fall off last year and lack of talent around him from the previous season, yet you are to tell me Frye had an actual legitimate team around him? Come on their horrible in all aspects in Cleveland starting from the coaches on down, you are going to make the point that Frye wouldn't be better served under Gibbs, and Saunders?

I will say it again, Brunell in 2 of the 3 seasons he has played for us has been as bad as a QB can possibly be, and that is what this team is being set up for if Campbell goes down.

I am tired of hearing about experience at backup, so long as Gibbs continues with Brunell this way we will never have it, I am sure Dan fouts has more knowledge than anyone we have on the staff with this offense perhaps we should pull him out of the booth and suit him up as a backup? No you say? Why? Because he is finished, he can no longer play, that's why! Just like Brunell, The job of a backup is to WIN games when called upon, Brunell has proven he can't. Who cares if he knows the offense it still translates into loses, allow a young guy to get the experience who knows he just might win some games in the process, it's not like it's never happened before. If Campbell goes down the season is done we are not going to win in the playoffs under Brunell and we will not be in the playoffs if Brunell plays the majority of the season. IMO Gibbs is still waiting on the miracle situation to justify Brunell and it's going to take something close to a miracle for that to ever happen!

We may not have a legitimate backup in any of these younger guy's we brought in this season the real question should be why haven't we seriously addressed that issue in some way, Palmer is a possible start in that direction but we should be much further along than we are, Bramlett who knows? I didn't see anything in europe to make me believe he's legit, but keeping Brunell around? We might as well put a uni on Sling'in Sammy to back up.
It's your absolute refusal to consider the possibility that you might be wrong on Brunell that keeps me from being able to come to common ground with you, but I'll try to respond anyway. You were dead wrong on him once, I'm surprised you think that you aren't wrong on him again. Then again, I'm not even sure you realize that you were wrong on him once.

You are comparing Brady Quinn's Senior Season at ND to Charlie Frye's 2nd season in Cleveland. Brady Quinn finished 3rd in the Heismann voting. Charlie Frye got benched after Week 12 for some horrible play. There is no comparison, they didn't even play in the same damn league!

Just because the deck is stacked against him in terms of winning games does not mean that there is nothing to be expected out of him. He had two years in Cleveland, and showed little promise outside of the standard improvement in completion percentage. He clearly has not lived up to 3rd round pick status.

I will agree with one think you are saying, that the fact that we have to have experience at backup QB is kinda stupid. We should have the best quarterback we can get our hands on as backup QB.

Currently, that's Mark Brunell. You'd have a tough time building a case otherwise, and to the best of my knowledge, haven't even tried to. You DON'T want to put a guy back there because he might be better than Brunell, you actually want the best guy back there.

Obviously, you had to do some thinking to come up with Charlie Frye as "best candidate for Redskins backup QB", and while its realistic to believe we can acquire him, I'm still not sure why we would want to. He's been pretty awful, and while he's shown the potential to be as good as Brunell, it would be more than a stretch to say hes every going to be as good as MB currently is.

If Charlie Frye is the alternative option for backup this year, I don't think you are going to get a lot of support for booting Brunell out the door.

First off I have never been wrong about Brunell, I have dead on!

Please pay attention to what is written rather than dismissing any point that you disagree with as none existent.

I will type a little slower this time so maybe you can comprehend, circumstances can dictate a players success, as you stated in your love for Quinn, I am saying Freys circumstances in Cleveland are bad, that a change of venue into a real offense could greatly benefit him because I believe he has the potential to be a good QB, couple that with the fact that he is a realistic option, not a pipe dream, and there you have it, he would definitely be worth taking a chance on.

You seem to stuck on numbers rather than having the ability to rationalize and evaluate a player based on circumstances, how many QB's have been left for dead, or just have been written off as nothing special to go on to have very good careers? How about Drew Brees? He was pretty awful his first few years, how did that turn out, I believe if Rivers didn't hold out Brees was about to be released wasn't he.

What you fail to realize is that SO WHAT IF BRUNELL IS THE BEST BACKUP RIGHT NOW! Who cares he has to be better than Collins who is horrible, and a rookie who has never taken a snap in the NFL? All that is going to do is get us beat by 10 points instead of 20, he's a loser! And is retarding the growth of a future backup, that's it. It's as if you take solace in losing but not getting blown out, who cares a lose is a lose!

Or, how about I show video of Philly last year when Brunell threw a dead duck in the flat that got picked off for a TD? Remember that one?

Need I go on?

This is stupid. Offiss, you're not 100% right about Brunell. Not by a long shot.

Neither are you GTripp.

We've wasted close to 10 pages on Casey Freakin' Bramlet!!! Enough is enough. Thread locked.
