I didn't think I needed to put the sarcasm tags around my post. I guess I was wrong.

It is still the 96th pick though. A chance to land one of the top 100 college players in the country who will have a legitimate shot to make this roster and contribute. It's a gift for a free agent former skins who performed well. We can thank Buffalo for giving Dockery a huge contract, and we can thank Dock for staying healthy and playing well for them.

I said it before, but bottom line is that makes 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. Good stuff.

thank you, a perfect example of why we shouldn't get too excited about this draft. Danny has shown that he's capable of messing up just about anything and this year will be no different. I can only imagine how many wasted picks we'll end up with. We need a real GM!! Where are you Bobby Beathard?!

Yeah I'm pretty sure DS hasn't learned anything in the 6 years since that draft. Go look at our drafts under Gibbs compared to our drafts without him, there's a huge difference. I'm excited to have this many picks under our belt, and even though odds are slim we'll find the next Marques Colston in the 7th round, there is no harm in having two extra picks in that round.

right, we're supposed to believe that Danny all of a sudden knows how to draft? Please, this isn't something that just anyone can do. You have to be able to watch film and break it down. What great drafts did we have under old Man Gibbs' watch? I'd love to hear this one.

Well being Dan is only one piece of the puzzle, you should be more focused on Vinny being hes our draft guru and remember what he did in San Fran....do you even remember ( I doubt seriously, because you seem clueless as to whats even going on with the Redskins) . Great draft that lead to a Super bowl title!

But since you apparently don't know, I'll give you a couple examples: Lets see your boy that you have so much faith in JC, Cooley, Carlos, Rocky, LaRon, Sean Taylor, do you need any more examples of great drafts under " old man Gibbs "?

Since the 7 round draft began in 1994, we have had:
'94: 7 Picks, 4 in the first three rounds - 7(4)
95: 8 (3)
96: 6 (1) (The one high pick was Andre Johnson - Blecchh)(A Cerrato pick)
97: 8 (3)
98: 7 (2) - No First Rounder
99: 6 (2)
00: 8 (3) - Two First Rounders (Arrington, Samuels)
01: 5 (2)
02: 10(4) - See above
03: 3(2) - No First (T. Jacobs, D. Dockery, G. Hamdan)
04: 4(2) - (Cooley, Taylor)
05: 6(2) - Two Firsts (Rogers Campbell)
06: 6(1) - No First (McIntosh in the 2nd)
07: 5(1)

I hope we can get some good hits early. I don't know though - we haven't been overwhelmingly successful in the 2-3 rounds.
Cerrato wasn't here in '96. Andre Johnson was a Casserly pick. Not one of his best moments.

I know it's fun to blame Vinny but this is getting ridiculous.

Re: Compensatory picks are in

The real question is how does this cange everyone's draft predictions?

We will have to go back to the drawing board for the draft now.

At least this time going "back to the drawing board" is good thing.

You're right that it does potentially change things. It gives the team more flexibility if they want to trade a pick to move up they know they have the comp. picks afterward. I don't see us moving up in the 1st, but I could see a trade up in any round thereafter. If they like the talent left in the 4th, I could see them trying to package a couple late round picks.

I would love to see us trade down to get more picks but that requires some good fortune & a team that really wants to make a move.

Re: Compensatory picks are in

I found a full list of all the draft picks in order, including compensatory.

Mike Sando posted it on ESPN.com, but it's a link to an excel file. Here's the link: 2008 Draft Order.xls

The Redskins picks are as follows:

21, 51, 84, 96, 154, 186, 228, 242, and 249.

Don't know if this was already posted, but there it is.
