I'm simply taking issue with the fact that some people actually have the nerve to call Portis a disgrace. Direct your displeasure to the right place. Team management is the disgrace.
That same principle needs to be aplied when it comes to the coach.

And if there's really 40 running backs that could do what Portis has done; name them.

jamal lewis ran for 2000 yards in 2003 he had 1364 in 2000 the year the ravens won

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

I don't blame him for getttin paid, what I blame him for is his poor peformance on and off the field. When people say he's paid too much, it doesn't mean they're saying he's to blame for that, they're saying that him getting paid a lot & his relationship to the owner are a problem.

This has been brewing for quite a while. Gibbs is often said to have started it, but maybe Gibbs went along because CP is the Danny's favorite. Just like Lavar's relationship w/the owner, I don't see this one ending so happily either.

Right now the answer is 25. Imagine if he had a line.

I know that some people say that his explosiveness is gone and that he has a hard time finding the endzone. The truth is who is blocking for him? Every single one of his runs is a result of his hard work. He turns 1 yard loses into 3 and 4 yard gains. Every time this season that the offensive line has actually blocked and gotten him to the second level, he exploded for a huge gain (all two times). Even with the piss poor line he is still ranked 7 in total rushing yards with a 4.2 average. As far as the lack of touchdowns is concerned, He has just as many TD's as any other offensive weapon on our team (2). We would like to see more from him and out of the rushing dept., but the truth is that this offense is struggling scoring points not just CP.

The bottom line is, give him a line. Adrian Peterson isn't doing it all by himself up there, they have a good line.

GTripp is much better at explaining the theories behind stats than I am, I'm sure he'll chime in.
OK, then we're removing Collins' 42-yard pass completion and he had 33 yards on 13 pass attempts.

Ray Rice
Michael Turner
Forte
Chris Johnson
Jones-Drew
Cedric Benson (so far this year)
DeAngelo Williams

Others I'd rather have, but you could argue either way:

Jonathan Stewart
L. McCoy
K. Moreno
Slaton
A. Bradshaw
F. Jackson

Certainly not a top ten line, but for the most part they have been adequate. What hasn't been adequate is the playcalling or a QB who can complete passes to keep drives alive.
Jackson, Moreno are going to be good. Stewart and Williams are a great tandem. I haven't seen enough of McCoy but the word is that he is going to be a good one too.

Ray Rice is a beast too. You might even add Darren Sproles to that maybe list. That guy can change a game even though he might not be an everydown back.

Yes, there are alot of RB's who are better than CP. I just think he's slowed in the last couple years. He's gone thru 4 years of JG's offense. My god, he's lucky to be walking.

yea ya see he isnt a leader... hes just a roleplayer.

We dont have a leader. But nobodys to blame for that.

The dude is climbing in age and he could use the time to rest his wheels.

Disagreed completely.

Portis has always been a leader for our team, especially after the loss of Taylor.

We have plenty of leaders on the team, most significantly London Fletcher.

Cooley, Hall (yes, DeAngelo Hall), Andre Carter and Phillip Daniels also do a lot to motivate their teammates and keep their minds on the right track of working hard and trying to fix their mistakes.

Also, Campbell HAS become less of a shy guy and more of a vocal leader. I have seen if before and during several games this season.

I should have clarified.

I never saw a true leader in CP.

As far as the loss with Taylor... YES. But otherwise NO.

hes more of a COMEDIAN/funny guy.. who keeps everybody loose..
on top of being the main cog in the O Wheel.

bottom line is...
CP is still a solid RB. but we do need an explosive CP SPELL. (looking forward to the draft)
the mans getting older and its obvious hes being disrespected with a thread like this from his own fan base.

I highly doubt that we take a RB in this draft. We have to many other glaring needs.
Round one:Top Oline
Round two:Top Oline
Round four:Top CB
Rounds five and six: Even though there will be some tempting Tackles and Centers still available we will take some shit LBs that wont make the team.
Round seven: Maybe, just maybe we take another WR.

Plue we still have the amazing Ladell Betts.

Re: How many starting RBs are worse than Portis?

Portis has become fat, happy and lazy. Word on the street sez he doesn't have more that five 100+ yard games left in him (in his CAREER, dudes) ... he's like an unproductive Manny Ramirez.
