Everyone is complaining about not taking a second round o-lineman, like any o-lineman would have been a sure fire starter. Have you seen the history of this team with second round players? It just shows you that anything beyond the first round is a toss up. Hell, even the first round is a toss up. Both fans and the media just need to demand a better output from players and coaches. The current o-line needs to get their shit together and play better, and coaches, from the the o-line coaches all the way up to the Ron, need to figure out how to make these current players work out. If not ,then they are all going to be sent packing at the end of the season. Sorry, but I'm just getting sick and tired of the same "wah wah, Ron should have drafted lineman in the second round" like that is the answer to everything.

Cosmi needs to be moved back to Right Tackle. Let Stromboli, Gates, and Wylie have a 3-man competition for the C, RG positions. Not good overall numbers from Charles. But his pass grade was high, so I'm going to give him a pass on the run-numbers for one game. He needs to bump that 43 up though.

Re: Cards post game
Can we stop talking about KC?
He isn't coming back. Happy to see the team get a win. There are a shit ton of red flags but I don't care right now. I'm taking the approach that next year will be better. This year, we will figure out what we have with Chase Young and Sam Howell. |

Re: Cards post game
It's a shot at something better than we already have on the o-line. I feel like the coaching and scouting staff are mediocre and I wouldn't trust them that much anyway.
I'd rather taken a shot on an o-linemen than Martin is all most of us are feeling.

D: The defense was great, especially when it mattered most. ST: Special Teams were good enough. O: I kept waiting for the offense to feed off the momentum the D was providing, but it never really happened. If they didn't benefit from a few penalties against AZ, and the defense giving them the ball back a couple times, they definitely would have lost this game. They struggled with consistency. The only drive that felt pretty good ended with a Gibson fumble. While sacks may seem to paint a picture that the O-line was terrible, I thought they were ok, especially early on. It appeared (to me and many sitting around us) that Howell was just too hesitant to make a decision a lot of times, like he didn't trust what he was seeing. That sack/fumble/TD was squarely on Wylie though. He just got straight beat. Sam has to be better though, and EB has to put him in positions to be better. The defense can only carry this team so far. Not a perfect game by any means, but we got what mattered - the W. |

National rankings:
https://www.hogshaven.com/2023/9/12/...ton-commanders Anywhere from 17-23 makes sense to me right now. They have some work to do if they are going to be taken seriously.

Re: Cards post game
Is there a reason why NFL teams don't seem to run out of pistol much? It offers better run options than just running out of shotgun all the time while still allowing option, RPO etc.

Re: Cards post game
Harder for the RB to get in position to block on pass-plays. As he would have to go around the QB then get re-positioned, then find his man. If I was defense, I'd blitz that formation basically every time. Think it's a little too 1-demenional to run anymore than a couple times a game.

Commanders were ranked 11th in pass protection for week 1:
Source: plus Washington was the only nfc east team to have two tackles in the top 20 of pass block win rate . . . actually the only team in the nfc east to have anyone tackle in the top 20 in pass block win rate ![]() |
