Clayton: Redskins Plan to Sign Randle El and Lloyd

This is the latest (Sat. 2:15 a.m.) from ESPN's John Clayton.

The Redskins came out swinging. They made contact after midnight Friday with 49ers defensive end Andre Carter, Rams safety Adam Archuleta, Chiefs quarterback Todd Collins and Steelers receiver Antwaan Randle El and have them flying in as early as Saturday.

The Redskins are also working on a possible trade for restricted free agent Brandon Lloyd of the 49ers. Lloyd was given the first round tender, but the Redskins have initiated trade talks that could give the 49ers two mid-round draft picks. Lloyd agreed Friday night to make a visit to the Redskins on Sunday. There is a good chance Lloyd will come to an agreement with Redskins for big money before the end of the weekend. The plan for the Redskins is to sign Antwaan Randle El and Lloyd.

This plan, if true, sounds very exciting. But, is it overkill to have Moss, Randle El, Lloyd, Patten and Thrash? I guess if this is Gibbs' plan, I'll just say that he knows what he is doing. It seems like a little much, but he's got three rings whereas the only rings I have are in my toilet bowl.

Re: Clayton: Redskins Plan to Sign Randle El and Lloyd

maybe its for campbell to not have any reasons to fail...
he has an OL
he has an elite RB with solid backups
he has a pretty good FB and TE (cooley)
he has a good #1 WR

he's missing a good blocking/balanced TE at the #2 slot and WR depth right now. still, imagine R'El or lloyd or patten on someone's #4 CB...

maybe they're just pursuing 2 to pick the best deal.

Absolutly Awsome!!!!!

who is the Defense going to cover?

Moss, Lloyd, Patten, Randel El, Cooley, Portis

That puts the 3rd and 4th corner on Patten, and Randel El... Good Freakin Luck!

I think this is great if true. However it probably also means bye-bye D. Patten

that is a sick trio of receivers right there... all fairly young too.

gibbs' offense is combining power with speed (a newer version of the old school). exciting stuff!

thats a lot of money tied up with just one position.all the players would be welcomed here, but i dont see it happening.plus,we need someone to rush the passer

If the Redskins get Lloyd Or El it would be big! But both that is a dream! We will see what we will see. As for Collins can some one tell me more about him? If he is signed Ramsey is a Jet. On the D side I would have thought a DE or LB. This tells me that Taylor and Clark have something to do for this move. Taylor jail time if things go bad for him or Clark isn't what the team wants.

If they sign Randle El I would imagine that Thrash made be released or traded b/c Randle El would probably fulfil the return duties.

Re: Clayton: Redskins Plan to Sign Randle El and Lloyd

Anybody think this might be smoke put out by the agents for these WR's in order to garner bigger deals? I mean one makes sense, both seems a bit pricey. How much room do the Skins have anyway? I mean we are just what a day from being $7 mil over. I know they released 5, but Patten, Llyod, a DE, LB, CB, S . . . sounds expensive.

I'll believe it when I see each one holding up a Redskin jersey at Redskin Park and mugging for the cameras. There are just too many rumors floating out there right now. Yesterday, it was Isaac Bruce will be coming to Washington. Today, he is a re-signed Ram.

Thrash would be gone if we get both and Patten may not be happy with a house so crowded. I loved the Smurfs, but I hope we would not try for a second coming. We need some size. I trust Coach Gibbs, as he has the plans to take us to the Bowl.
