Archuleta for Sale

For those who think the jury is still out on our new starting SS here's some insight on what Gibbs meant by Archuleta's lengendary workout...

Based on his outstanding workout, there should no longer be any doubters. After doing 31 reps at the combine, Archuleta completed things by running a blistering 4.37 on turf and also coming through with a 39-inch vertical jump. With numbers like that, it's easy to see why Archuleta was such an explosive performer within the Sun Devils defensive structure. Now a possibility for the Saints in the latter stages of round one, it appears that Archuleta is at worst an early second-rounder.

Now why he isn't 'faster' on Madden '06 is beyond me.

People would rather bitch and moan about Clark.

Was "ARCH", as Gibbs called him, signed for insurance in case Sean Taylor goes to jail...it seems to me that we could have used another CB or LB before a Safety.....not to say Im not excited about having picked him up....but just nervous about loosing sean.

I think it was more of a worst case scenario signing with upside. If Taylor misses time, it will be good to have a hard hitting safety. If Taylor is back they have the best Safety tandem in the league.

When you say if Taylor misses time do you mean from injury? If he gets convicted you probably will never see him play football again.

why no, will. i would think that would be a secondary motive. i think he wanted a playmaker and got one.

Re: Archuleta for Sale

he doen't play as well as those numbers indicate in coverage... he kinda plays safety like its a linebacker position

but no doubt he has talent.

I think he was referring to his routine workouts post-being drafted. I wouldn't be surprised if he has improved on those numbers since then. He has a good trainer who makes him do things that give him an advantage over most players. Does anyone remember that MNF game about two seasons ago where they dedicated a whole halftime to one of his workouts?

Re: Archuleta for Sale

He he can be a workaholic all he wants but that still doesn't change the fact that he can't read defenses well and his coverage skills leaves much to be desired. I mean, take Antonio Brown for instance. Brown is fast but every time he touches the ball every fan cringes and hopes nothing bad happens.

Maybe the GW system will improve is skills in the areas he is lacking. Only time will tell whether we'll get a big bang for our buck. As for Clark, he was average at best and everyone knows that. He was cheap, and did a decent job though.

Add his inability to read defenses, his major back problems, and his demotion to 2nd string with his former team.

What do we have?

Re: Archuleta for Sale

What impresses me in that report o nmel Kipper is that he named a lot of future pro bowlers Heap, tomilson, hutchinson an daslo 2 busts that had apperently a lot of upsite before the draft.

Rod Gardner and Drew Brees
