Fullback/Tightend?
I really think Cooley should and will be our number one tight end. I know when I play madden and I make trades and release players as they do in the real life. So I keep current as do I download rosters online. I can't for no reason why no one has mention to placed mike sellers as our starting fullback even though I would have prefered to get richardson as the fullback but he signed with minnesota. If Al is going to run the show he wil need a reliable blocking fullback and a superior tightend like Cooley to make this system work. I believe I know what I'm talking about. Cooley could be like Gonzalez giving a chance. Sellers is huge and could be a devastating fullback for us.

Re: Fullback/Tightend?
My point is that Cooley should be the starting tightend not fauria. Sellers should be the fullback. As like kansas city's offense with lj, richardson at fullback, gonzalez at the tightend the majority of the time.

Re: Fullback/Tightend?
that's how it was and will be... cooley was on the field more than royal, and he'll be on more than fauria...

Re: Fullback/Tightend?
Cooley is good. But he is not Tony Gonzalez. Think Novacek.

Re: Fullback/Tightend?
I'm not sure why, but Royal was actually our starting TE and Cooley and Sellers were our H-backs respectively...this is why Cooley never makes the pro bowl because in the voting ballots he's not listed as a TE. I notice they have made changes during the off season listing Cooley as a TE and Sellers as a FB, there's no longer any H-backs on our roster. This will clear up all the confusion and we'll see Cooley and possibly Sellers in Hawaii next year.

Cooley is a TE for all intents and purposes. he lines up all over the place, but he really just runs out and catches passes 90% of the time. he's a willing blocker, but not a very good one. |

Re: Fullback/Tightend?
The problem is Gibbs doesn't run an offense that restricts players to this position or that position. Most think a TE means you only line up on the line next to the Tackles, and a FB only lines up between the QB and the HB. Well, Gibbs realizes theres no reason to be conventional, when you can use players in various places to play to everyone's strengths.
Think the Pats defense. A person may be listed as this position, but they may end up anywhere. It's all about sets. Whatever the situation and the play called will be who's out there. Cooley will be on the field plenty, he's clutch, big enough, blocks enough, quick enough, and will go over the middle. But so will other folks. Fauria will be out there plenty, but so will 3 wide reciever sets. 3 WR sets can't fit portis, an Hback, TE, and a FB, and we should see some 2 TE sets again this year as well...but all of those positions will see plenty of time, and various players will see time at those positions. Basically, players will play where they will work the best for the play, regaurdless of what the position chart says.

Re: Fullback/Tightend?
To me the great thing that Cooley does, is that he can confuse a Defense. If Moss is in the game, he is going out for a pass. If Fauria is in the game he is most likely blocking. Cooley on the other hand could be blocking, going out for a pass or like he did last year on many occasions, blocking and then releasing into a pattern on the same play as a dumpoff option for Brunell.
If you are on D, you don't really know what he is going to do. |
