Arrington Video on ESPN.com

I can't link directly to the video, but if you go to espn.com you'll see it as one of the options in the video playlist on the righthand side of the page. It's pretty short.

Does anyone have any idea what he means by "one of Gibbs' guys"? Is he just saying that Gibbs didn't like him or what? And what's the deal with him saying he "covered" for the coach(es)?

The title of the video says Arrington has "harsh words Joe Gibbs." I'm not sure if they're harsh or not, but the whole thing just doesn't make much sense to me.

The guys a jerk. It won't be long before he stops bashing the 'skins, Mr Redskin for life and he'll be undercutting Giant management.

Re: Arrington Video on ESPN.com

its part of the reason lavar isn't here. he's too emotional, and just doesn't know how to shut up.

He's pissed off cause he backed marty and spurrier and was rah-rah for them, but backed away from gibbs when he came and didn't really show any love for the new coach. Then (somehow) he's shocked when gibbs et al don't reward him for what he did for spurrier and marty. Meanwhile he's got an idiot agent, an impossible contract and a pissed off owner.

It's just more of his "poor lavar, always the victim" act... I won't be crying for him.

Watched this a couple of times and he came off as a whining misfit. Said he tried to become one of "Joe Gibb's guys" but we know if Joe believed it and he had made the effort, he would still be here. Moderator called him out on his statements and he responds with a "you know" and a sorrowful downcast look. A very poor perfromance.

He's got a story and a stance to maintain now, and regardless of perspective, this is the bent we'll hear for the rest of his career.

regardless what anyone says he was a redskin. He was the face of the team and held that to high regard. He was the people's champ.

Re: Arrington Video on ESPN.com

He was the Redskins for a better part of 5 years. He held that with the utmost respect and was a class act, on and off the field. When we stunk, we all said, yeah but look at the talent we have at LB. He is awesome. now, he gets injured, we play well with out him, contract dispute, no playing time, its time to move on. If you are the face of your organization for 5 or more years, no matter what your job, lawyer, doctor, IT rep what ever, then they up and push you back, say you cant perform to the level you once did, wouldn't you take that a bit personal. Especially if you had extinuating circumstances that kept you away for a while. You talk great about the company, management everytime they ask you about the losing, the money spending, still losing, coaching carousel ect. I can see him being a bit pissed. I would if it happened to me. Not being a Joe guy, alot of our old players weren't Joe guys. LaVar isn't any exception because he's LaVar the so called great LB. No one is above Joe, but you can't get mad at someone because they are a little bitter towards someone that kicked them to curb because of injury or what ever the case may be. If my company did me that way, I would totally be pissed.

Re: Arrington Video on ESPN.com

If he really wanted to be "one of joes guys" then why did he do everything he could do to leave? he is a whinnin lil girl, which sucks cause can play the hell out of some linebacker. I give him this much though he did stick around this long, I mean how many defensive coordinators and systems did he have to learn? But it still doesnt look good for him or the organization to go on t.v. and make an ass out of himself. Another thing didnt he look like he put on a lot of weight? Is he tryin out for nose guard?

It always sounds like I am sticking up for the dude, but anyway. He has actually lost weight, like 15 to 20 lbs. he is closing the his playing weight of his first two or three seasons. As far as staying here, he worked his contract, however he wanted that contract to stay in tact no matter if the CBA was signed. Most or all of the players that re- worked the deals, their contracts were voided after the new CBA was signed. He wanted his to stay no matter what. Which the two sides couldn't come to an agreement on. So he bought is FA status. You can argue that either way, fact is he is gone lets move on and stop the LaVar threads. How about another thread on Ramsey and Brunell? oh, thats right he's gone too!! hmmm, how about who is better Taylor or Williams, that should be a good discussion.

That's an excellent question! Do you think Ramsey will be the starter this year?

I would like to say yes, but I doubt it. From what I hear Chad P. still going to be the man. which sucks. But the coach says its a wide open competition, so atleast he has a shot.

Chad Pennington SEEMS SHOT. If he comes back from that shoulder injury, he should win hands down the comeback-of-the-year award.

No, I actually don't think you're sticking up for LaVar too much. In fact, you're probably not "sticking up" for him at all. There are two sides to every coin. It's a little easier to call out LaVar because he's been the most vocal about everything.

While I do think LaVar talks too much, he probably had his reasons. What get's me is that all of a sudden (and there are some who will argue that he's been such all along) he's a freelancer that's usually out of position and that can't pick-up defenses. I'm sorry, I just don't buy it. If you want to talk out of position, see Warrick Holdman. But then again, he's not getting paid millions either.

I guess I'm rambling on a bit, but the point I was really trying to make is, I tend to agree with you. Under similiar circumstances, who wouldn't be a little pissed and hurt for that matter.

I also find it interesting that Marvin Lewis was quoted as saying LaVar, and I'm paraphrasing, would sometimes be out of position or something to that effect. Yet he's one of the one's that inquired about Mr. Arrington's services.
