NY Times: A Sanctuary for Coles
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/23/sp...=1&oref=slogin
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 16 — The house being built for a hermit has enough space to entertain a large posse. Laveranues Coles’s sanctuary is 25,000 square feet, and like the luxury vehicles he will park in the five-car garage, it comes fully loaded. (Not sure if anyone cares anymore, but an article on Coles. Wonder if he regrets his choice?)

Re: NY Times: A Sanctuary for Coles
I thought this was worth a discussion so I copied it here.
Coles is a strange cat. Obvious the abuse issues play a large role in that. I think what he might regret is leaving NY in the first place. Hopefully he finds what he's looking for and is happy. His ending here was messy, but I think most of us will agree it wasn't all his fault. |

Re: NY Times: A Sanctuary for Coles
Here's a guy - seemingly a very solid guy - who plays his guts out for both the Skins and the Jets. Ends up back in NY and the very reason he went back no longer exists. Talk about having the table turned on you.
I also find it funny how sometimes 'we' peg whom we think are Gibbs' type of guy. If you told me a few years ago to choose between Santana Moss, L.Coles, and now B.Lloyd. I probably would have told you Coles is a better fit for the team. |

Re: NY Times: A Sanctuary for Coles
Coles is definitely a very rich guy.
Isn't it funny now that he complained about all the screens, but now we see that it wasn't a poorly designed play... but executed on his part. He might have good straight line speed, but he's not elusive at all. |

Re: NY Times: A Sanctuary for Coles
I'd hate on Coles too, but i have some respect for him. I think it's great that he has that much money now, considering where he came from, and the way his life used to be, and now he's turned it around that much. I wish him the best.

i give him props for even bringing his story out to the media... you don't ever hear of that stuff from current athletes anymore.

Re: NY Times: A Sanctuary for Coles
i would be really interested in know who that bills player was. I guess we will never know.
Coles is a good guy but as a player his two injury really hurt him. He reffused to do what was needed by having surgery so he had to go because of that and the fact him and gardner didn't seem to like it here. Looking at them both, they have fallen a lot since leaving here. Coles was a respected WR here(91 madden ranking and 99 speed). He was considered good. Now i don't rank him nearly that high. My favorite coles plays. The one against seattle(i think) where we were backed up and it was 3rd and pretty long i think and ramsey threw an INT and coles caught up to the guy in within the 30 yards he had a chance to and forced the fumble at the 1. We ended up in better position after recovering the fumble(my man thomas did that too). I don't think we had a chance of winning that game without that. That for some reason ranks as one of my favorite games. The way we won it with gardner throwing the TD to Trung. My second favorite was against philly on sunday night when he went across the middle and got absolutely laid out by dawkins and popped right back up and did his first down thing while running 20 yards up the field. |

Re: NY Times: A Sanctuary for Coles
I wonder if the Bills player knew of Coles' past? If he didn't, he probably wouldn't have made that comment. If he knew about it and still decided to say something like that, then that's really fucked up.
