Ahmad Carroll

I can not believe that green bay release carroll today he is an incredible talen who is very fast and can tackle. Even though he made some mistakes yesterday all corners make mistakes. I mean Green Bay as a whole plays terrible defense. I believe we ought to give this guy a chance to prove himself as the number one draft pick he was. We need help and I know we need Springs back now but hey guys he is getting older and we need to think about a replacement. Just a thought he has been a starter in this league except for this year. What do you guys think I know we can get him cheap this year.

Re: Ahmad Carroll

Great...we can put him alongside Rumpf and Archuleta and call it the "all first round bust defensive backfield." I know Im being hard on Arch, but lets be honest, hes looked pretty terrible in coverage.

I just dont feel good about signing someone who cant even make a weak Packers squad. Plus there's no time for him to learnt he system, so how long will it be before he's effective?

Re: Ahmad Carroll

he seems to be pretty good at tackling... so i wouldn't see why greg williams wouldn't look at him

Re: Ahmad Carroll

Carroll sucks. Even Packer fans believe this, and these are the same people who believe that Ryan Pickett is the leagues best DT.

If you are fed up with Kenny Wright holding, just wait until Ahmad Carroll comes around.

Re: Ahmad Carroll

I can see them trying him out if he's cheap, but he's just like wright and rumph... if we can develop one of them into a starter, great, but they both are suspect against fast recievers, which jacksonville doesn't have, and whom carroll cant cover!

Re: Ahmad Carroll

Carroll, wow what a defensive intimidator.
4th and 26...... 4th and 26 sums up the GB defense they were apart of.
I dont think Carroll is even worth adding to future carpel tunnels to talk about, had this been done 1 month ago he would have been better than Rumph, Fox, Edwards, and whatever houligans we could shave, shower, and dress to pass off as DB's for Springs.

Re: Ahmad Carroll

Then again, alot of people wrote off Griffin before we got him.. and Clark as well, and they turned out to thrive under our coaching, and we have a need. I'd be cautious about the move, but after reading his scouting reports (skimming through a couple online) apparently he was highly touted as a college athelete. He ran a 4.26 40....

He played for the weakest defensive team. I dont think he can play our last year style at all. Maybe he could fit into the broken coverages and tackles of this year.

Neither of those guys were a top 30 pick in the draft.

Rumph and Carroll were though. Rumph has really made major strides this year. Hes moved from terrible to plain below average in my book.

Re: Ahmad Carroll

we don't have a speed guy, so that'd be a nice need to fill. I wouldn't expect him to do anything this late though, and, i mean, it's not like he's a great CB anyways.

Re: Ahmad Carroll

Re: Ahmad Carroll

Speed and added help cant be denied, but we would probably have to let go of a special teams guy then and that shouldnt be tampered with.

Oh no wait Cory Burns pack your bags, it would be upgrade I would sign for that tomorrow Snyder.

Re: Ahmad Carroll

We don't know what the deal with Ahmad Carroll is. You don't all of a sudden stop being a decent player. I'm guessing something is fishy in Packer land. He won't clear weavers, so there is no chance of us giving him a look.

Besides the bad tackling all round, Rumph and Wright played pretty well against the Jags. I was certainly surprised when they left Rumph all alone in man coverage towards the end of the game. So yeah, GW can turn mediocre into decent...I wonder what he can do with decent.
