Salary Cap (merged)

I really wanna see the numbers or our new signings and restructurings; I normally defer to the warpath, but that info is not available, does anyone know where I can see how the new contracts and restructured contracts are structured?

Re: Salary Cap

CC updates his sheets regularly this time of year, as soon as he does we'll upload the new info.

The non-spending sprees will continue

for the next few years, I wouldnt expect the skins to go on any spending sprees. It's not that we have changed philosophy or anything, the reason is the same reason why we didnt go on a spending spree this year, we just simply do not have the cap space.

I will never put it past this FO when it comes to finding ways to create cap space. As we've seen even in this "inactive" year, they've had little trouble finding cap space. The much bigger concern is scouting--I have no problem paying for players, just not SUCKY players (yes, that means you, AA!).

Re: The non-spending sprees will continue

I'm not sure why people are trying to say we're not spending because of no cap space. That's just wrong, we have plenty of cap room right now to make moves, and we could easily clear alot more room if needed.

I know it might be hard to believe, but the front office is taking a different approach this offseason.

The WT has an article today that outlines our current cap situation:

Redskins' moves create cap room - Sports - The Washington Times, America's Newspaper

I agree. I think they finally learned their lesson.

Re: The non-spending sprees will continue

Another cap tidbit from JLC, he says we're about $9M under:

Hall was due to count $1.5 million on the teams cap, so the Skins stand around $9-plus million under the cap, and could free up another $2.5 million should they opt to let Renaldo Wynn go at some point.

They could also always restructure a few more contracts should they require even more cap space (Marcus, Griffin and Daniels would all be candidates given the nature of their contracts).

I dont believe this year is the problem, over the next few years fat paychecks with significant amounts left on bonuses will kick in, so we cant sign big priced guys this year because it will kick us in the rear in a year or so..

We've been hearing that since 2000.

Every year the Skins restructure deals, give out new deals, etc., to avoid cap hell.

But last year we were in cap hell, yet were saved by the cba extension. If not for it, we would've purged the roster. Probably could've kept some guys at reduced salary, but a lot would've refused.
CBA or not, I think we'll see a year in the near future where we simply cut a bunch of vets rather than restructure like Tenn. did the last couple years.

A lot of teams would have been in big trouble if it weren't for the CBA extension. If this front office does one thing well, it's finding ways to stretch the cap to it's limit.

By the way, the lastest cap sheets are now up, thanks CC!

But every year brings another year of possible cuts, restructures, trades, etc. So, it's hard to project and say we'll be in trouble next year or the year after. You can't just look at what future bonus' may hit without taking everything into consideration.

The Redskins are masters at manuevering under the cap when it counts.

I'm not worried about any year except for this one.

Re: The non-spending sprees will continue

I don't think we'll have any idea if this kind of "non-spending spree," as you put it, will continue in the future until this time next season.
If the team does well this upcoming season, say 11-5 and at least makes the playoffs, we probably will continue on this path.
But if the team goes out and has another piss-poor season I wouldn't be surprised to see Snyder jump right back into his free-spending ways in order to finally find the quick fix.

Re: Salary Cap

I am new to the warpath and the salary cap is why I originally found this site. The last update I have is before the restructuring and free agency acquistions. Where can I go to find the updated information? Thanks
