Forget Briggs, how about Alex Brown?

I know there is still talk about us trading for Briggs but why not take a shot at Alex Brown? I just saw he is looking to be traded and our pass rush would instantly improve. I remember when he was at Florida thinking that this kid was a monster and he has proved it pretty well in the league. The Bears are real deep at DE with Ogunleye, Anderson, and drafting Bazuin this year in the 2nd round so maybe we wouldn't have to give up alot to get him. He is still young and would create some much needed pass rush with him and Carter coming off the ends. What are your thoughts?

I'd be open to this move, though I don't think the Bears would be. There are indications that they're denying his trade request:

DAILY SOUTHTOWN :: Sports :: Bears' Alex Brown exploring trade options

Who knows, maybe they'll reconsider if offered the right deal. I just wonder how much the Redskins really want to deal with the Bears after going through the Lance Briggs thing.

From what they said on the NFL Network is that he could seek a trade and it sounded like the bears would if the right deal came along would trade him. I would say that almost every player if the right deal was made could be traded and this sounds like they said OK if you could find the right deal for us we would be willing to talk.

Re: Forget Briggs, how about Alex Brown?

All our trade rumors tend to deal with throwing Springs into the package, but what about trading away an offensive player? Remember when ARE was entering free agency, the Bears were the supposed front runners in wanting to sign him. I'm curious how interested Chicago would be in acuiring ARE and a low round pick for Brown... cuz i feel we could afford to give that up

Re: Forget Briggs, how about Alex Brown?

they were interested in him until they drafted the best return man in the draft in devin hester, are is not a solid wr by any means. The only hope we have in adding additional depth for the line will be after the june first cuts.

Re: Forget Briggs, how about Alex Brown?

What Brown wants and what he get's are two different things. Chicago has way to many issues at hand, I think he will be staying right where he's at.

He's under contract.

Re: Forget Briggs, how about Alex Brown?

Alex Brown said that the deal was practically done with another team. The Bears got the compensation they wanted, but the team couldn't please him with a contract so it fell through. They want a 1st or 2nd for him and he wants a huge contract, while I'd like an Alex Brown on the team, he'd be too pricey.
