Ok....I know about S.Moss and a couple other guys that could use the time to heal now...BUT,...is it just me or is anyone else a little nervous about being one of the teams having our bye week first!?? From an injury standpoint, would'nt it be best to have it toward the latter part of the season when guys are more "banged" up and in need of some serious rest? Thinking back....I cant remember when we've had ours this soon in the season.
Thoughts?? Brian

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
Well in 2005 when we made the playoffs we had the bye week the third week of the season if I do remember correctly.....which is kind of weird because I didnt think they started that early (this year its week 4)...but we had the bye week right after the Monday Night Miracle, and then came back to beat Seattle before dropping a couple on the road.....
Given the offensive line injuries, I think its probaboly for the best that these guys have a chance to gel together....obviously you always want it week 8/9 where its smack dab in the middle of the season...but its hard to say. We had it week 8 last year and were 5-11....we had it week 3 in 05 and were 10-6 and won a game in the playoffs.... It is what it is though....I'm not that worried about it at this point, but I would have liked to get a game in today to shake off last week

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
i dont think it matters, i think it will be good to get these guys calm after last week. going into the bye week above .500 is good for me even though its so early. but yes i can see where the concern is of having a bye week so early.

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
I'm sure that the players like getting the week off, but as a fan, I hate going two weeks between Redskins games.

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
Yup. I watched the whole game. They marched down the field against the Bears rather easily throughout the game. If not for some stupid mistakes (i.e. turnovers) on the Lions' part, the game would not have been nearly as close.
Whoever is on Roy Williams is in for a busy day.

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
Better to get the bye week now, and let our offense figure out how to score more points.

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
I usually don't care to have it this early either, however, I think it's good timing this year....injuries and the offense needs the time.

Perfect timing. Hopefully, we will come back healthy and ready to whip up on the lions.

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
It is good timing in terms of we just came off of a really bad loss. I tend to think that the perfect time for a bye week is say week 6, but I think this is a good time for us.

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
This weekend suck w/o a Skins game to get excited about. That said, I agree an early by is fortunate because of the additions to the o-line. It's real important for Campbell's protection and the running game (to the right) that our o-line gels. This should happen now. Also good timing for Moss to get some rest, though I don't see him playing against Detroit. Now Campbell has the opportunity to est. timing w/ Caldwell and maybe even Lloyd (even though I'm just about over the kid).

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
I realized one thing while watching a bunch of random games; The redskins Dline is horrible! They absolutely no pressure.
It's going to be hard to beat good teams without a passrush. |

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
You're right. But there have been flashes from A. Montgomery, and I'm talking about overpowering right up the middle. Hopefully, GW uses the by week to work on pass-rushing.

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
Im watching the Giants Dline destroy the eagles. Uminyora has 5 sacks alone. If we can't pressure Kitna, Favre and Brady, We could be on our way to another playoff free season.

Re: Thoughts on the bye week....
Our secondary has been pretty quiet so far in the turnover and int departments. Hopefully w/ the return of a healthy smoot and some gelling between Taylor and Landry we put the f'n hit on Williams and the rest of the Lions' receiving corp
