James Thrash

WR James Thrash a Washington Redskin twice over, with few seasons as an Eagle, has not been firmly worked into the offensive scheme so far.
Thrash has come in on a few passing downs in recent games, but he seems to be a far second reciever behind both Moss and Randle El.

My question is how can Thrash be best utilized in the current offense?

Re: James Thrash

Thrash is a sleeper but he is clutch in some situations. running 4 WR or 5 WR sets could open the offense up so Thrash & Lloyd can become effective.

Re: James Thrash

We, as Redskins fans, think Thrash is special, but he's not. If Moss is out vs the Lions (seems likely) then we are up shit's creek without a paddle.
This lineup does not scare anyone:
1- Randel El
2- Caldwell
3- McCardell
4- Thrash
5- Lloyd (unsure if he will play this week too)

Re: James Thrash

Thrash can play the X, Y, and Z positions. The question becomes how effective can he be due to his limitations. He's the type player that can be counted on in a limited role, to expect anything more from him would be unrealistic. His value is on ST's and at best, a #4 receiver. He won't do anything spectacular to elevate the passing game.

Re: James Thrash

good special teamer, good all round team player. not enough skills to warrant working him in on the offense

There's no way Caldwell or McCardell have picked up the system enough to be considered a starter.
Caldwell could come in on 3 WR sets, But I would be shocked if he starts.
Right now, I think Thrash is our number 2 and Lloyd is our number 3.

By the end of the year, lloyd will be phased out completely. Thrash is a very good number 3 WR. He can run all routes and is fast enough to threaten defenses deep. He's nothing special, but he can do everything that's asked of him effectively.

Re: James Thrash

thrash has always been a very solid posession reciever. he catches balls in traffic and the only thing I can think of is he lacks the speed to be a huge vertical threat...

Re: James Thrash

Thrash has earned everything he's achieved. He doesn't run his mouth and he tries harder that most people on the field. With Gibbs still as coach you can't give up on people like Thrash or even Brunell. You might need them. And seems we do need Thrash this week... Solid personel.

Re: James Thrash

can someone please explain to me this boards infatuation with a scrub like James Thrash? i really think guys like him are OK to have on the team, but more from a leadership standpoint. that's really how he makes his contribution

Re: James Thrash

Please go back and watch the Dallas game from last year. Thrash filled in for Moss in that game. He made some key catches to move the chains in key situations. He still has excellent straight line speed, good hands, and is tough enough to go over the middle. I personally think he could be our primary slot receiver (but having Cooley and El gives us more versatility).

I expect Thrash to have a decent game against the Lions (50-60 yards) and El to be the primary first read.

Re: James Thrash

I think we also need to consider the development of Jason Campbell -- he's probably not at the top of his game when it comes to finding multiple receivers. Moss, Randle el and Cooley are the targets he's most comfortable with right now.

Re: James Thrash

Thrash is ok at best.
I can only see him in 3 WR sets...which is rare anyways.

If he starts over Lloyd, I will be upset.
Yes, I think Lloyd may suck, but...cmon, he's got a lot of natural ability.

I understand if they start Thrash, just to send Lloyd a message...but the plan was always...Moss, Lloyd, Randel El...if Lloyd doesn't get in the game today, he never will.

Thrash aint anything special...yes, he does catch well, but does he have starting WR talent....I dont think so.

I was thinking exactly the same thing...well put.
I do see him playing more today and making an impact.

Asking for a retraction?
Well, I'd like to tone down my "starting WR talent" comment about Thrash, with...He's solid depth....boy I wish he got his feet in bounds....then we'd be saying he's number 3 on the team and a potential starter....but after today....
It seems like he should be #4 and Kennan should be 3....primarily because Keenan made his catches having the playbook for a week, vs years for Thrash....Its pretty close though!

I do love Thrash's hands!
