Moss Probable--practiced today (skins.com

From skins.com--good news:

News & Notes: Moss Listed As Probable
By Gary Fitzgerald
Redskins.com
November 16, 2007

Santana Moss returned to practice on Friday and the team listed him as probable heading into Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Moss has been slowed by a nagging heel injury in recent weeks. The injury sidelined him in last week's game against Philadelphia, but with James Thrash out with an ankle injury and Brandon Lloyd now on injured reserve, Moss's services are needed.

"From doing what I did in practice, I should be able to play," Moss said.

Added Gibbs: "Santana looked good. He got treatment during the week. We had everybody in the world look at the MRI of his heel, and everyone is convinced that it's a soft-tissue thing. I think he felt a lot better on Thursday and he took practice [Friday]."

If Moss plays, the Redskins would go into the Dallas game with starters Moss and Antwaan Randle El backed up by Keenan McCardell and Reche Caldwell.

Moss has had produced some of his best games against Dallas. In four games, he has 16 catches for 365 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns came in the memorable 2005 contest when the Redskins came from behind in the final minutes to beat the Cowboys 14-13 at Texas Stadium.

"When you talk about how we've missed big plays, I think Santana is a big play guy for us," Gibbs said. "It would be great to get him back."

Newcomer Jimmy Farris could also be activated and serve on special teams. Farris, a four-year veteran signed on Thursday, would take the role of Thrash on punt and kickoff coverage.

I need to see some production. We have been doing well without him. I want to SEE that he makes a difference. Go Skins.

You mean in 2005? Seriously, dude is a beast when healthy. He just hasn't been healthy since 2005.

This is great news for the Skins. It forces Dallas to keep the safeties honest most of the time. I hope that Gibbs utilizes him more in the gameplan if Moss is even close to 90%.

Now, now. He was banged up a bit last year, but not ALL last year. He still started in 14 games.

His career average is as follows: 44 receptions, 712 yards, and 4 touchdowns per year. Those are the numbers of a very average receiver. Yes, 2005 was a great year for him, but it was his best year.

You probably won't agree, but I'm starting to think that Santana Moss, glorious as 2005 was, is an average wide receiver in this league who's had his peak year. I'm losing faith that he is destined to be part of a Redskin team that leads us back to contention.

AMEN. I think you hit the nail on the head with that statement. I think that Moss can still contribute, but not like what he did in 05. He's just too small and injury prone and I don't think he will ever be 100% again. It just seems like every single time he gets off an injury another one shows up. Not to mention, and I've said this before but he seems to start looking upfield for the hit before he really catches the ball he's never going to make it if he keeps doing that.

There is a lot of truth in your statements...but while he did play in 14 games last year, how many games was he on the injury report??? (also, not like he had a good passing attack last year, Brunell was hurt most of the season only throwing 10 yards down the field)
Same with this year in terms of injury. When healthy he is a great WR, however, he's never healthy. I applaud him trying to work through injuries, but the guy is a piece of glass, and I'd rather have someone with a little less talent but can be reliable than someone that is amazing but is only 100% for 1/4th the year.
So I will disagree with your comment about him being an average WR, he's not. But when you factor in injuries, then I will agree.

If memory serves, he had about 86 catches for 1600 yards. A little off as he has been hampered with the hammy

Re: Moss Probable--practiced today (skins.com

My thinking about this game has been that we have a chance (however slight it is) to win if Campbell can continue what he started last week, and put some legit points up.

I am doubtful of that happening without moss out there...while RE has looked pretty good this year, and KM has made some plays when hes actually gotten the chance, the two of them are not going to be able to produce as # 1 and 2 wr's. With moss in there though they will both have a better chance to get open and make some plays, hopefully between the three of them we can mount an offensive attack in the mold of pearl harbor.....bomb after bomb after bomb.

what? i think that even cowboy fans will tell you that man to man coverage isn't Williams strong suit. and thank god Moss is back. maybe the one single player that actually strikes fear into the cowboys secondary

Every little bit helps, even if he not 100%.
