USA gets destroyed by Puerto Rico
That's an embarassing loss. I know we were going to struggle, but we were supposed to handle Puerto Rico, who is supposed to be no threat to medal in the games.
How can anyone go to another NBA game and pay good money for tickets that finances a bunch of mansions and Escalades, for players that can't even beat Puerto Rico? |

on the upside, our women's team (with star players making what? 40k a year and hold 2nd jobs), beat new zealand 97-44 or something... that was funny...

kobe isn't playing, shaq isn't there... brown didn't get the best america has to offer (but most of the foreign NBA players are with their home teams)... it really sucks... I think taking his NBA championship team to the olypmics might have been a better idea (they all know the system/each other, and they've practiced together far longer), but i doubt the owner would've been up for that...

shaq is a linebacker playing basketball though... i didn't see a samoan team, so i doubt there'd be much stopping him...

We do need shooters-no doubt. Still I expected our team to handle PR. I could understand some other teams beating us.
Its easy to say how athletes are so overpaid, but in the NBA's case, its so true. The Nets may want to reconsider that $78mil they just gave to Jefferson. While I thought the NBA has a good mix of international players in the league, they really don't have enough yet. There's a lot of untapped talent that should be playing in the NBA. While these players are not "our best", they certainly are the top 30 players in the league and shouldn't get schooled by PR. |

they only have two weeks of practice before they start playing... i think the lack of time and the wear of a normal season does show... though its not much of an excuse...

They are a sorry excuse. They are playing against the best night in and night out. Although they have not played together much I dont think that is an excuse. They may not be they be that America has to offer, but they should still win it all. How many pro athletes does PR have?

if you mean NBA pros, then Puerto Rico has 3, but they have a team full of professionals that have been playing together for many years. That helps

Could you imagine the US sending over our 20th-40th best players in pro football or baseball and losing to a country that isn't even supposed to medal? |
