Great Redskin memories, like Kilmer getting arrested...
Kilmer is still remembered for the night in 1971 he got arrested in an Arlington coffee shop. As the story went, Kilmer tried to pay for a cup of coffee with a $100 bill. As he argued with the waitress, a policeman showed up. Kilmer, who hadn’t been drinking just coffee all night, told the policeman, “If you think I’m wrong, put me in jail.”
The policeman obliged. Kilmer got out of jail in time to lead the Redskins to the playoffs against San Francisco, and he won the hearts of fans when he told the waitress she could keep the $100 as a tip. (from The Washingtonian) This is one of those memories that doesn't make Redskins Yearbook, but it is part of the great Redskins history. It's been a fun ride and I hope we have great fun this year. Do you have a fun memory to share? |
