Re: Obama's Joint Session of Congress Speech

I thought it was good that he put some positive spin on things, I think people needed to hear some optimism.

On the other hand I thought Bobby Jindal's reaction was a complete joke.

It was very canned. Probably intentionally so. He was handpicked by the RNC to deliver the response. It was pretty blah, just an along party lines kind of thing.

Anyone else hear the MSNBC producer or host (someone off camera) say, "oh God," right before the Republican response? Silly lefties.

It was Chris Matthews

This is becoming an on going theme with MSNBC but at least we know now where they stand and their bias reporting.

I watched a classic Magnum PI instead. It was a Naval Intelligence plot where Col. Green is exchanging a Vietnamese agent for an American POW, with Thomas Magnum caught in the middle.

It really bothers me how the hosts of MSNBC actually think the disasters over the last 8 years, you know: spending over a trillion $ attacking a country that had nothing to do w/ 9/11 (not to mention the horrific human casualties on both sides), the response to Katrina, the almost total politicization and destruction of the US justice system, a financial meltdown that stemmed directly from the executive branch belligerently refusing to reform domestic policies and to regulate the financial sector (SEC, which is part of the executive, even refusing to investigate Madoff after several insiders went directly to the commission)... that all these catastrophic mistakes are somehow the ex-president's responsibility. Those guys just don't get it...

Jindal's aw-shucks demeanor was too much. If this is the Republicans best option, they're screwed in 2012.

Re: Obama's Joint Session of Congress Speech

Just like I can't wrap my head around how we have the cap room to keep Jason Taylor, Shawn Springs, DeAngelo Hall, AND acquire Albert Haynesworth, I can't wrap my head around how Obama can possibly:

- get our deficit cut in half by the end of his first term
- cut taxes to 95% of Americans
- increase spending on infrastructure
- infuse the financial system with enough cash to get banks to lend again

You know me, I do the math. And I just can't see how it adds up, either for the Redskins or for Obama!

But he was positive and he did unite the country. He's a good leader, and I like what he's doing in Afghanistan. The country needed to hear the positivity, even if it's mathematically impossible.

I caught about 15min of his speech and all I heard was spend spend spend and like you don't understand how he can do all this spending and cut the deficit in half. I have never heard of theGOP's guy and did not even see him at all but from what I heard he was pretty flat and thats coming for the right.
