Brian Mitchell let go from ESPN 980

It is official, Brian Mitchell has been fired from ESPN980 the home of the Redskins. I knew that all of his Skins bashing and Snyder hatred was eventually going to catch up to him. Dude's been talking sick out of the side of his mouth about our B&G ever since he retired...and on our local airways! That's why he got verbally assaulted and basically punked by Portis on the John Thompson Show. Although the guy was a good player...special teams...he has had almost nothing positive to say about the FO, or the team as a whole, ever since he was released after the '98 season. Thus, Snyder repaid his indignation with a second pink slip. Waived as a player, fired while retired. So long B...and I'm not referring to his name!

*Let me be clear. I do not think that Snyder fired B-Bitch for personal reasons..although I'm sure it didn't cause him to loose any sleep. I just find it funny that he was finally fired...it has been long overdue. The guy is a Skins hater, and provided no real value to the show. His firing was for financial reasons, but...doesn't mean I can't celebrate it anyway! Sorry Matty if the title was too misleading. It was my attempt at ironic humor.*

Maybe he bit the hand that fed him a little too hard.

Actually it was a cost saving move. Red Zebra is hemmoraging cash. Koken got cut too and I don't think Koken ever pissed Dan off.

That and Six Flags, sooner or later the Danny will have to sell off some assets to stop some of the bleeding.

As I am sure others here will tell you the funds that pay for the players come from another account /fund. What the other poster and I were referring to is that Dan's wealth is all on paper, the Skins and the stadium are all assets but only on paper, with the way the market and real estate in general have taken a hit the net worth has gone down. Now if the Danny has leveraged anything he owns to buy stock or secure any other investments ....aka Stock in Zebra radio or Six Flaggs and those investments start to lose money .......technically he might have to sell off some assets, to cover those loans if they are ever call in.

He should have never bought Six Flags & God Himself only knows why he bought Tom Cruises contract...those are 2 things right there he needs to set sail. That will help tremendously.

Koken was a Skins nay-sayer. Rarely had anything good to say!

What about the Sports Reporters? That is an hour of DS bashing and you don't see Czhzam out of a job.

It is a cost cutting move. I wonder who will take his place on the JT show.

The difference is the Sprots Reporters drive in ratings. Czaban even has a nationally syndicated show, as well as the golf show on weekends. Those guys bring in advertiser dollars, so I don't think they're going anywhere. I can't stand Polin...but Czaban, although a pessimist, is a loyal fan. He just is sort of a prick about what FO decisions he disagrees with...I actually like him. Czaban is articulate and can communicate his view points logically (most times), unlike the unitelligible speaker who got canned. Czaban goes to the games, celebrates in the victories and gets pissed with the defeats. I don't see eye to eye with him most times but, the guy sounds like a fan to me.

yea even though b mitchell sucked as a reporter, i don't think this move was out of spite by snyder, even though he was fully in his rights to do so.

Pretty odd that Snyder would order his firing the same week he extended an offer to induct Mitchell into the Ring of Fame (as he alluded to on the show earlier in the week). Are you sure you have your facts straight or just randomly bashing Snyder for a business decision one of his companies made?

I agree 100% I'm not one to hold back from bashing Snyder but maybe maybe Dan doesn't actually have a direct hand into who stays and who goes over at Red Zebra. It seems very odd that he would personally call Bmitch and tell him the news about the Redskins HOF and then fire him. I work with Red Zebra on some small business deals and I know they're hurting. I'm sure he'll re surface during football season.

That sux, I like a guy who gives an honest opinion and alot his criticisms are just in regards to the FO. I really didnt like it when he went after Portis last year.
