Colt's Game Performance
I don't consider myself a member of the COC but I have seen some posts that are ranking on Colt for his performance yesterday. Some people are saying that he is worse than he was last preseason and hasn't improved at all.
Keep in mind I'm no cultist, but what I saw was multiple plays where he had no time to pass without pressure. The pick he threw was a result of the half sack he was sustaining while throwing. Also he didn't seem to have receivers open on multiple plays. You could see him check down the progression twice and have to end up running....which he does pretty well. Like I said, I'm no COC or PJ member but I actually think Colt's performance was a bright spot yesterday. I thought he has improved since last preseason. He moved effectively in the pocket, that's mandatory with our o-line, and he had the demeanor of a QB that's efficient at moving the ball downfield. I still want Campbell as our starter but I think that people are mistaken when acting as if Colt did terribly yesterday. Watch the game again, every play there's someone in his face...at the end he starts bracing for hits he knew he was about to take.

Re: Colt's Game Performance
I think we've got bigger things to worry about than how the #3 QB is playing. I know a lot of people love him but really, I could care less right now.

Re: Colt's Game Performance
I haven't watched the game yet (it does not replay on NFLN until 3pm today), but as far as Colt Brennan goes ... the honest answer is that he did not play that well last preseason. Everyone got all excited, but I think if you went back and watched the games again you would see a QB who did not get through his progressions and who made some ill advised throws. Some of them (I am especially thinking of that stick throw to the tight end across the middle and managed to go for a reception) were caught and made nice highlights. He got away with some stuff last year, that's all I'm saying. Having not watched the Ravens game yet, I would be very surprised if he actually did not play better and demonstrate a better grasp of the offense.
Bottom line, the hype last year was way overblown and ignored what was actually happening on the film (a nice box score does not a franchise QB make). I suspect the same could be said in reverse after this first game (as you seem to indicate).

Re: Colt's Game Performance
Well said. He sucked last nite and Collins looked good. Collins will be the 2nd QB going into the season, but we got alot more to worry about than talking about 3rd stringers.

Re: Colt's Game Performance
A lot of Colt's reputation is built on "he can make plays regardless of pressure and how his offensive line is performing (or not performing"...that wasn't the case yesterday.

He is a gammer, but even that couldn't help him out last night.

Re: Colt's Game Performance
I was more disappointed in the play of defensive starters. Given the fact Haynesworth was not in, the fact Baltimore, moved the ball at will was quite concerning to me. Good news for me is I thought the offensive line protected the QB well in the first half. Kudos to Chad Rhinehart. If I am Randy Thomas, I am a bit more worried this morning.

Re: Colt's Game Performance
Colt looked flustered and rushed last night. He was able to get out of a few plays with his legs, something Campbell and Collins don't do well. Other than that, he's still green. But as others have said, there are much more worries than how the #3 did in the 1st preseason game...

Re: Colt's Game Performance
I feel sorry for Colt. His time in the limelight did not go well.
But maybe last night will chill the members of the Cult of Colt, so we can focus on more important things, as Matty said.

Re: Colt's Game Performance
My thoughts exactly, but Ive heard enough of the PJ should be JC's backup. He didnt have alot of time, but when he did...he was indecisive. Maybe next game he will get the #2 slot, so they can better judge his progress. He did move pretty well, but his arm is still doo-doo.

Re: Colt's Game Performance
I agree with a lot of the posts above me, I think that if you want to see how good Colt really is, put him in with better WR's and no devin clark or scott burley. He made great plays with his legs and is a lot more agile than I thought he'd be. threw a desperate int, and played against a better Defense than he did last preseason. Interesting to see how he does against the steelers D next week.
