Selfishness, or Team Player??

"I've played a long time, and I've had a lot of success," said Brunell, who at the midpoint of the season is among the NFL's lowest-ranked passers. "I'm certainly not going to let [eight] games of not having the statistics that I want take any confidence away from me. I'm very confident in what I can do and how I can play this game."

Confidence is one thing, & ability is another.

Confidence allows you to suit up & prepare for a game.

Ability allows you to perform & win!

So far Mark has only shown me that confidence gets you to the game. I thought ability was just supposed to come natural..?

I think Mark needs to check himself at the door this week & bring it for once!

At least somone has confidence. I know I don't. I hope I am wrong. But I don't think I am.

What else is he supposed to say?

He's got to keep his chin up and keep battling.

I'd be more concerned if he was questioning himself.

Not me. I'd be happier with him taking a more realistic stance and say something like: I know I'm playing horrible and for the good of the team I'm asking Coach to start Patrick Ramsey the next game or two and see if he can turn OUR team around.

that'll never happen. 'skins put themselves in a real rut by not only getting him, but paying him so much that they'll look like idiots for benching him. how many years of questionable free agency moves have we made? probably the same number of yrs that danny has been around. george, r. johnson, matthews, banks etc. etc. of course some of these are the coach's responsibility granted. when are we gonna learn to just let a young gunner learn? (carr, roethlisberger, brees). swallow your pride gibbs and put ramsey in the game... stop looking like a fool with that anemic o.

He has confidence? Take a good look at him, he's emotionally drained. He doesn't have that killer instinct anymore.

yeah and it's like it all builds on him like "oh great what else can go wrong?"
i had that same feeling with spurrier too... just seemed to snowball on the guy and brunell is in the same position today.

didn't Kerry Collins do something similar when he was with Carolina? He went and told Capers that he didn't have it in him to be the starter, then he was cut a couple of days later. Of course, his alcoholism could have been a factor

I like that he's confident, and I hope we see some results soon enough. He's performed well in the past, there does seem to be some kind of disconnect going on. I definitely don't think he's all of a sudden washed up, hopefully this is just an 8 game blip. Well 7 game, he did hit the Cowpokes for 325 didn't he? How'd he do that?

Hmmm. Alcoholism you say. If anybody sees Brunell while you're out, buy that man a drink, and let em keep on coming. Great plan Smootsmack.

More like his racist comments about some of his teammates.
