We tried going to the SF by boat one year and after going through the locks and waiting at all the bridges we found out the festival was no where near the water. I think we stopped at a Captain Georges that had a beach area and hung out there for a few hours.

LOL. It's fun, good food (funnel cake, BBQ, turkey legs), my wife and I go every year, it's only about 5 minutes from where we live.

We go to Bills Seafood which is down the road from the Wright Brothers monument. Not sure what is down in Corrolla but it has really built up over the years so there is plenty of choices. When I was younger Corrolla was not built up at all and we would spend the night on the beach after a long day of surfing. Can't do that anymore. If your going to be up in nags head I can give you directions to Bills.

you know of any good places down there to surf? last year we tried a few spots not much luck though. there isn't much in corolla, they just put a harris tetter in a few years back and they have one decnt shopping center noithing like nags head though

just googled bill's seafood and came back as billy's seafood in kill devil hills. is that the one you are talking about? you know if they have live crabs there? i would love to find some reasonably priced bushells so i can take my steamer down there and have a good old crab feast

Bust down to MP 16 and hit up Sam and Omies. If you love a great plate of seafood, get the Whale of a Seafood platter. The BEST!

We are headin further South....Myrtle Beach here we come! Golf,Beach,Bikes, Seafood/Good grillin, doesn't get any better.

And of course take much time to reflect the real meaning of this holiday. And the many wonderful men and women that have given so much for us to have these freedoms. To all of you and you know who you are. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO.

trip was awesome i was torn up(in a good way) the entire week. and i definitley found some waves. i was in whale head and there was a really nice sand bar that me and my buddy found, they weren't huge by any means but with a 10 foot board it was pretty nice.

the house we stayed in was pretty nice, it had a sick ass theater room i wish it would have been football season cause a 100"+ hd picture is awesome. we did have one problem with our septic tank though, and hoepfully next year will be free once all is said and done. best part of the whole trip was no traffic there or back

The trip to Nags Head is much better after they opened up the Chesapeake Bypass or what ever they call it. Up until 10 years ago it was a single lane road to nags head after you get off 64. Now most of the trafic issues are from Williamsburg to the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.

I'm doing things along those lines too, my pops is throwing a big cookout party with plenty of grillin goin on, gonna have a bunch of family friends/coworkers/etc. comin' out for it. It's gonna be great, I'm so looking forward to eating some grilled chicken kabobs, hotdogs, burgers, italian sausages, potato salad, chips/dip, etc. etc. and having an awesome 3 day weekend as well.

Re: Memorial day plans?

The wife and daughter are meeting me at my office and we are driving down to Nags Head for the weekend. Friday night we are having steamed shrimp and french fries. Sat. night we will probably hit the fish market and have a varity of seafood. This time of year the seafood down there is as fresh as it gets.
