Wow, good tip... too bad i'm only halfway into my 2 year contract doh! Good deal on your end, however. Superfan with HD is money.

"I want to cancel" is the phrase that pays with pretty much all companies these days. That reminds me, it's time for my semi-annual cancelation call to Comcast.
The bar is 10 min drive and they have killer brunch...salmon cheese omlette...i'm stick with it.

I had a bit of an ethical issue doing this myself. I didn't want to call Comcast and just flat out lie to save a buck. But I was tempted. So I poked around, and actually did find a provider (RCN) who offered me a SLIGHTLY lower rate for the same service. So I called Comcast and tried his play. I didn't tell them what RCN would save me (a hair over $10/month), just that I found a better deal. Same thing happened. They put me on hold, and came back with a deal that chopped about 20% off my monthly bill. HA! Anyway, as far as DirecTV goes, they are way superior to Comcast as far as hardware and customer service. I used to have my Comcast services included in my rental payment. Not anymore. But I really don't have a need for Sunday Ticket since I get the Red Zone Channel on Comcast and all the Skins games are local. Truth be told, I'd still prefer DirecTV, but I don't feel like dealing with changing accounts, switching hardware, having the satellite installed, etc.

the contract should only be on the directtv service, not the sunday ticket. You should be under no obligation to keep the sunday ticket even if your under contract to dtv.I'm only 1 yr into mine also

Think I'm already paying for this year's ticket.
I know you can call up and complain and get some $$ off, just not my style though. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it. |

I hear you and GM but honestly these are not ethical companies so Ihave no problem bartering with them. Honestly I think the Red Zone channel (Comcast) is the best thing going right now. I will be shelling out for it this season.

Re: Whos buying the Sunday Ticket this yr?
Just about everything is negotiable if you ask. My wife gets embarrassed when I'm looking at a pair of shoes and ask the sales person if they are on sale. When they say no I tell them I'll buy the shoes today if they will give me the sales price on the shoes. Most have to go in the back and talk to the mgr. but 90% of the time they knock off 20 to 30%. I've had them knock off as much as 50% one time.

Lets say creative pricing that is unclear to the consumer and taking full advantage of it. I see there crap and montor it but the pull the wool over many people's eyes.
