Skins Hating.....

has anyone else noticed that people who aren't skins fans seem to really hate the skins. I'm sure alot of it has to do with me being surrounded by Eagles fans, but it seems that whoever I talk to, outside of my insular Skins circle, takes particular delight in watching our season fall apart, year after year. Plus, I hear the snickers at the bar from bystanders when I go to watch the games, and they are usually not directed at any other team.

I was in Chicago last year visiting my grandfather, and he said after New Orleans beat them: "good, I hate that coach and that owner. I am always happy to see them lose." I said, I always kind of rooted for the bears cos I knew you liked them, but now I hate them too! And your stupid Cubs! HA,that will show him. But that type of sentiment is not uncommon from my experience.

Obviously Spurrier was universally despised, and Danny Boy still is, but wouldn't Gibbs' return at least partially mollify some of the will? hasn't from my experience, but like I said, I'm stranded in Eagles counry.

But you know what, I don't mind being the but of everyone's jokes, cos when we get back on top (and we will) it will be that much sweeter to rub it in their faces.

When you think about it. The Dallas Cowboys are the most hated team in the league because of their infamous "America's Team" title. The fans that usually like the Redskins are Steelers and Jets fans. They always mention the glory days and how like the hogs, the fun bunch and John Riggins. The fans that hate the Redskins are of course the division rivals and some fans of teams we beat the hell out of in the playoffs or in the Superbowl. Everybody tries to hop on the jokes about the bankroll of Snyder and the return of Gibbs and the bad play of Brunell. But I tear them up at the bar against Testeverde and Warner.

It's Snyder

It's Daniel Snyder. A team that continues to spend the most money, and get super stars (sometimes at the end of their career) like Deion Sanders and Bruce Smith, will not draw approval from other teams fans (and in some cases, the fans of that team). Take the New York Yankees for example. If your not a fan, you don't pull for them. That's just the way it is. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked for us like the Yankees.

Oddly enough I kinda like both the Jets and the Steelers! Although Cowher scares the hell out of me, he seems like a good coach.

That being said, we are the Yankee's of football. We always make a big splash. If we had half of the Yankee's success I'd be happy though!

Our franchise didn't get more net worth than any other franchise by being totally hated though. I think a lot of people do hate the skins, especially those who aren't fans in the VA/MD/DC/Surrounding areas. They love to see them lose, and I understand why. I love to see the Ravens lose too! It's hard to explain. Ontime I saw someone with a Dolphins license plate and I wanted to ram them, and I don't even really dislike the dolphins. Odd.

no doubt its cause of snyder, we are kinda of like the rich kid everyone who everyone wants to see screw up....we are no longer the blue-collar team that lined up and smashed you in the mouth...this all started with the deion/smith/george spending spree and kept on going through the charging admission for practices and spurrier....

he has totally changed the culture of our team, and I'm not sure I, as long fan am crazy about it....but props to him for keeping his fingers off our team this year....and for keeping his trap shut.....

I don't want any owner in the league over Dan Snyder. He's willing to do anything in the world to win, built the largest stadium (perhaps the loudest) in the NFL to support the team. He's not a rookie owner anymore, and you can see this developing. He'll have more super bowls than cooke. DASEAL GUARANTEE~

We're not that hated. Actually no one even cares to hate us, which may be even worse. I think in 2000, a lot of people wanted to see us fall on our ass due to us signing the 1992 All-Madden team, but after that we haven't been good enough to be hated.

Oh yeah a lot of people are hating on the Skins. Afte Gibbs picked up Gregg Williams, Greg Blache, Joe Bugel an company it was the biggest news in football. Then comes Portis, Shawn Springs, Mike Barrow and the maddest rookie on defense Sean Taylor and people twisted their lips and rolled their eyes with envy. I guess so , if you have old ass Eddie George, Dorsey Levens and ass backward Ron Dayne in their backfield.

FedEx Field

Daseal,
He didn't build the stadium, but he did sell the name to FedEx. Jack Kent Cooke was probably rolling in his grave. It was an obvious mistake, and the word curse comes to mind.

Daseal:

Since Danny Boy bought the team when he was about 35 years old he will likely own it far longer than JKC did. So the question is not if he wins more than the three Super Bowls that JKC did, but if he can win three or more in the same amount of time.

Yeah, the Skins are the Yankees of football...except we don't win anything.

I don't even like Daniel Snyder and I am a Redskins fan. I wouldn't expect any other team's fans to like him or the organization. If I hadn't grown up such a die hard Redskins fan I may not like them now. I can't stand Snyder. I will say that it appears he's getting better, but time will tell.

the yankees of football? a guy once said something to me that has stuck with me. it was during the summer of 2000, which was in retrospect a period of bad free agent signing, but at the time i thought we were gonna go 15-1.

anyway, im talking up the skins with this guy and he says, whatever, you guys are the Orioles of football. I laughed at him at the time, but he has proven right. we added alot of splash to a solid core, ruined it, and have never been the same since.

the pattern of me talking up the skins every summer has continued annually into the present, and i have yet to not look like a fool come november.

Ok, I meant he expanded the stadium to make it even larger. I was in a rush before school. Sorry.

Who cares how close together a SB is. It was a lot easier in JKC's day. No salary cap. It's nearly impossible to do that now-days.
