David Boston to Miami Looks Like Done Deal
I've seen reports in three places saying that the Chargers and Dolphins have agreed to a deal sending David Boston to Miami for a sixth round pick and a player to be named later.
"Players to be named later" are rarely All-Pros. I think some of the posters here need to look carefully at the trading marketplace in the NFL and adjust their thinking. TO went for a second round pick from the Ravens. Had the Eagles' deal with the 49ers gone through he would have brought James Thrash and a fourth or fifth round pick to SF. Now David Boston commands a price of a sixth round pick and a "player to be named later". Lots of folks here proposed trading Rod Gardner to get another first round pick for the Skins. Compare Gardner to Boston or Owens and even allow for the fact that Boston and Owens are sometimes "problem children". Now realistically, what might you get in terms of a trade for Rod Gardner? My guess is a sixth round pick at the very best.

I'm with the camp that thinks trading Gardner is a mistake anyway.
I'm not sure how this deal works for Miami. They have a QB who can't feel comfortable knowing Miami were shopping for a QB (ours!). They also have a good #1 WR and some half way decent backups. Boston is very likely to disrupt rather unite them. Anyway, it's Miami's problem, not ours. |

I don't necessarily agree - both Boston and Owens come with monster-sized salaries that the new team will have to suck up unless they renegotiate. No one would want to give up a high pick AND have to inherit a huge salary.
Gardner does not have a huge salary (by comparison to these other WR's) - so I think he'd be more attractive to them. I think we could get a 3rd round, or a 2nd perhaps. |

3rd for Gardner...maybe
Anything higher would be highly doubtful IMO |
