Will the league ever change?
The NFL seems to be so worried about their image and people's uniforms to address some of the real problems. It's almost as bad as NASCAR knocking a guy from #1 to #something for cussing. I assure you, NASCAR fans have heard that language before!
Anyhow, they seem to be so busy fining people for slightly different uniforms and not focusing on the real problems. Officiating and challenges. Officiating this year has been horrible, especially for us. I remember I went to the PIttsburgh game, and before long the fans around me knew who my team was. They even booed the refs when they called personal foul unnecessary roughness on one of our players. That to me was amazing! The more important one to me comes from challenges. Two of the most pivotal moments in a game can be unchallangeable. Fumbles (down by contact bullshit), and Pass Interference (huge penelties.) These are two penelties which are judgement calls, and often times are called incorrectly the first time. How many times has Tiki Barber fumbles but been down by contact vs Washington the last three years? About 15 I'm guessing! These two penelties irk the hell out of me because there's nothing you can do even if no contact was made. Also - I've heard the refs aren't able to see the plays under the challenge hood in slow motion. CAn anyone either confirm or deny this? If so, that's absolutely foolish too. Do we want the call right or not? I thought that was the point of reviews. One more thing, does or would the NFL ever release how many letters they sent to each team? I'm curious who got the most letters of apology this year for bad calls. Something we have a good chance to walk away with #1! What do you guys think, and what's your biggest problem with the league. |

I said it before and I will say it again, they are controller's not official's, why else would they allow those 2 loophold's to continue? They allow them because it allow's the official's to control the game! As for instant replay slow motion, I have heard the announcer's say quite a few times that the official's see the same replay's we see, so I would say yes they have slow motion replay's. |

My beef with the NFL is the missed calls like Daseal talked about. I mean think about how many times or D was called for Pass Interference calls at like the 1 or 2 yard line. And when the refs made the call our D back was playing the ball or the WR would push off our player.
Also that bogus illeagle motion penalty against Green bay still irks me to this day, I am still watching football and seeing the same situation, a guy goes in motion and the ball is snaped as soon as he gets to or near where he is supposed to be. A team that does this alot is the colts, seriously watch how many times Pollard, Clark, or Stockly(SP) go in motion and barly gets set and Manning has the ball snaped. That is total bullshit Thrash wasnt set for a full second!!!!!! Like I said I know the colts do that all the time, but hey they have the winning record!!!!

I also don't like the way quarterbacks are being overprotected in this league.

Personally, I think the stupidest move they've made this year is "emphasizing" the illegal contact rule. It's one thing to try and keep the defender's hands off of a receiver, but it's a completely, COMPLETELY different thing to throw a flag just when someone bumps into a receiver when going for a ball.

the replays are the same that the Referee sees under the hood, but they are not slowed down at all...they are shown at every angle that the cameras pick up...at full speed.
the more i think about it, the more i want to see instant replay disappear again. the officiating crew needs to be held accountable, and with instant replay around, they can make mistakes and know that they'll be able to cover their hindparts if need be. we got screwed on many calls this year, but so have other teams...instead of improving instant replay, improve those officiating the game...

Does anyone know if the officiating personnel (this includes referees, line judge, back judge, etc.) are evaluated periodically. I know that umpires in baseball are, and low evaluations for them literally means going back to the minors or losing their jobs! Considering the way many of the games were called this year (and not just 'Skins games- I've heard about horrible officiating for other teams as well) I'm wondering if these guys have any incentive to perform?
