WHFS gone Loco
If anyone here listens to WHFS it is no more they are now a spanish radio station. I am so mad that Infinity Brodcasting would do something like this. Whoever listens boycott the station till they turn it back. Also spread the word to everyone I do not care who it is!!!

It happens.
My favorite station in high school was a rock station called KNAC. There a Spanish station now too. I can understand all the Mexican BS her in SoCal. But back east?? As Bob Dylan said"The times they are a changing."

Yeah it's insane. They didn't give any warning whatsoever. Not even to their DJs. Their staff came into work this morning to find they were fired.
Infinity Broadcasting has not even issued a press release. I don't see many Mexicans in the DC/Baltimore area, so I do not understand why they are suddenly and without warning appealing to this demographic. |

Change back is not gonna happen...they have no ratings whatever. The only reason they even showed up in the ratings was becasue of the Junkies in morning drive which was barely a blip. Noventa y Nuevo punto Uno is for real now.

Well, I do agree that more warning should have been given. However, the numbers have been slipping over the past few years. Even the HFSestival has seen its attendance decline in recent years
And while there may be not many "Mexicans" per se in the DC area, there are a lot of Hispanics (myself included) who have been wanting a FM spanish radio station with a strong signal. Ironically though, I can't get 99.1 in my apartment, only in my car That being said, I rarely listen to the radio anyway unless it's npr or sports talk. For the most part I just listen to my CDs when it comes to music

Another ironic part, I was actually planning on going to the next HFStival. I've never gone before.
Oh well. |

HFS has been a has been for several years. The brains and heart of the station left when it was bought by infinity and went to 103.1 RNR. Great Station - "playlist? we don't need no stinkin' playlist!!"

HFS has gone downhill, and Smootsmack - you can listen to ORTEGA! Some woman at work listens to it, it's absolutely horrible. It's music that was released in America three years ago translated into Spanish with someone yelling inaubidable sounds overtop of the vocals.
I must say I am a Molotov fan though. No idea what they're saying, but it's fun! |

RNR is close to HFS in its heyday. Not quite the free-form HFS was but still MUCH MUCH more than you here anywhere else. There really are very few stations like RNR in the country. So to HFS I say - so long. You were mighty once. I am sorry they didn't let you die with dignity. |

In the fairfax area they actually have the 3rd largest population of hispanics in the country (according to the 2000 or 2001 Census, things could have certainly changed since then.)
