Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Dolphins)

Well, let's get right to it

Our QB Situation I mean this goes without saying, yet at the same time it bears repeating. With apologies to Slingin Sammy, Rex Grossman is 10,000 times better than Beck. Beck would not have given us the opportunities Rex did today. That said, Rex is so infuriating. Makes that great throw to Hankerson and then tries to replicate it again on the next play when we have 1st and goal inside the 10. Neither QB is the future. And, unlike, other positions, we have no one on our roster who would be. We need a QB

Defense Defense can't keep making the excuse that the offense didn't score a TD. Yes, they had a couple of key turnovers but they also let the Dolphins march easily down the field twice and gave up big 3rd down plays. It's inexcusable.

You know what, I think I'll just the rest of you handle it this week. Lay the smack down

Torain is frustrating. He missed a big cutback early in the game and he just seemed ineffective overall. Helu just seems to have better vision.

Torain is junk. Helu equaled his rushing total in half the carries.

Gano.

But just for this week. I don't think he should be cut by any means. I'm on his side and of all the problems this game, kicker is the least of our worries.

But Gano missed a couple of key kicks this week. You make an almost 60 yard FG last week then pull 2 shorter kicks off to the left the next week? Consistency, buddy. Better luck next week.

The Use of Ryan Torain Roy Helu - 6 carries, 41 yards
Ryan Torain - 10 carries, 20 yards

This is beyond stupid. We can't get a promising rookie carries because we're a franchise that lacks both foresight and evaluation ability.

Maurice Hurt wasn't very good. Not terribly shocking.

Holding Penalties Can't call what you don't see.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Dolphins)

Our playcalling is once again mind-numbing. Particularly when we had 3rd and 2 in the red zone, and not only didn't we run, we called a play with a 5 step drop and take a sack for a 10 yard loss. Leaves us with a 50yd FG attempt, which was missed.

So Shanny had never been shutout in his career, nor had he ever lost 5 in a row... Just come to Redskins, Mike! We set records for futility like no one else!

Scud Stud, maybe. Hank and maybe Kerrigan, that's it.

Gotta think Riley deserves to be there.

Terrence Austin A polished route runner, but he's just not very good. I don't see a future for him on this team, or this league. He can play against second teamers, but we should be building towards a team that can compete in this division.

Secondary--we really are not good at covering folks. Why isn't Gomes out there? Can it really be worse than Doughty?

O-line: Jeeze--some of those sacks were just awful. Obviously, we have just no depth and not all that much talent starting. Who'd a thunk that we'd be lamenting the loss of Kory Lich.? Oy.

Dont' worry about apologies to me. I wanted to go with Beck to see if anything was there, better to know than not. We now know Beck isn't an option.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Dolphins)

i honestly didnt see any one player or unit have a really bad game . . . outside of the run game. my god our run game has to be they worst run game in the league the last 3 to 4 games or so.

so while they only gave up 2 sacks, the O line and the total disappearance of the stretch run play is my big smack upside the head. homie dont play that.

GM - for studs, you got kerrigan and i think the safeties. i know it was matt moore but they didnt let a brandon marshall led receiving corps get behind them for a big play. i cant really think of many big passing plays on us all year wit or without atogwe. maybe even rex? compared to last couple weeks he did wonders

The Skins did not score a TD all day long.

The total offense for the day was about 250 yards.

The defense - - trailing by 4 points - - took the field with 12 minutes in the game and the ball at the Dolphins 19. (This was immediately after the Grossman INT in the red zone.) With a "three-and-out" or with one first down and a punt, the Skins would have been in a position to win with a single drive. The defense allowed a 6 minute drive for 81 yards and a TD putting the game out of reach.

And you say you didn't see any player or unit have a bad game?
