What are Gardner, TJ, and Muhammad Worth
A couple of interesting things I ran across regarding WRs we have and are possibly considering:

I think we COULD get a second for Gardner, but I dont know if we will. I think we can for sure get a third rounder for him, but the potnential for a second was there.
WOW! look at how I spelled potnential.... that cant be right.

Muhammad is looking for a huge deal, 5 years for a guy who's 32? Ouch.
Gardner's value could increase depending on what these other guys get. I still can't see us getting a 2nd rounder for him. If we can manage even a 3rd rounder we should take it and run. |

I think we can and should get a second for him, even if we have to pair someone else with him i want us to have a pick in that round

it's never a bad idea when bargaining with someone to start with a bit of a higher trade demand and leave yourself some wiggle room to make adjustments. and who knows, there r probably atleast a couple teams out there needing a young, tall, strong posession reciever who has shown flashes of even being a solid number target of an offense. possibly marty would give him a look with san diego's depleted wr group and the fact that Gardner had his best year under marty.

It's kind of iffy on the second round part, but it's a good move to ask for that in the first place....I think we'll probably wind up taking a third rounder for him...which is probably okay with us!
Are those guys the only potiential WR's in free agency? |

it certainly does not hurt to ask high and settle lower than that expectation. why ask for what you think the street value is, when you might just find someone who was willing to give you more...
Gardner gets a bad rap, but has the skills to be a quality receiver. If the Skins are willing to part, they will get what they can for him...but he can still be a contributing factor to the offense. Houshmandzadeh is nowhere near the receiver that Gardner is, and it would be a mistake to pick him up for the kind of money he's asking for. He's a 3 at best anywhere else in the league, even with the breakout half season he had in '04. Not sure Muhammad is worth a 5 year deal, however he's played fairly consistently in Carolina for a bunch of no name QBs...

Muhammad is pretty good but, just like Moss, the cost to bring him here would not be worth it.

I have to say - If anyone had seriously suggested asking for a 2nd rounder for Gardner, I would have (and probably did a time or two) laugh derisively in their direction. I just don't see it happening - Hell, I don't see a third rounder happening. But, what the hell, can't hurt to ask.
Who knows, Schotty drafted him and seems to have a penchant for sticking with players he likes. SD may actually be a good fit for him. To me, Gardner is the new Westbrook. Lots of talent, but mininmal commitment, concentration or consistency. |

A big difference between Gardner and Westbrook is their right uppercut....seriously though, a big difference is that Gardner has been healthy his entire career, has he even missed a game?.
