Hardcore 2014 Offense Spreadsheet

This is a complete football nerd out. Mark Bullock from (The Insider - The Washington Post) put in yeomans work cataloging every play from the 1st 6 games of the season. It really some in depth stuff here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...kiY/edit#gid=0

There is a lot to parse through. But well work the look for those inclined to the Xs and Os.

I've already picked up 1 clear tendency/tell with a formation.

Re: Hardcore 2014 Offense Spreadsheet

The formation Trips Left/Right w/ Y Iso was used 41 times in the 1st 6 games.

Only 3 times did they run from that formation.

That is a clear 'tell' from a tendency standpoint.

If a defense is doing their homework they know when they see that formation they can play pass.

Re: Hardcore 2014 Offense Spreadsheet

I figured it wouldn't be for everyone. Its dense reading and makes more sense paired with video/pics but its amazing that Bullock put that much work into putting it together. This is similar to some of the raw data sets that PFF compiles for NFL teams.

There's a lot of good info and tendency that can be gleaned.

One thing that sticks out to me Jay is straight forward with some formations.
He uses some run formations to run and some pass formations to pass.
Some teams can get away with this but on the whole I think its better to keep as much balance as possible from every formation.

Anyhow, Bullock https://twitter.com/markbullocknfl
did a follow up showing Jay's fav play/concept from the 1st 7 games...
