Season Prayer

I'm not a very religious person, but I do bow to the Football Gods on occasion and say a few words. Last night I knelt before I my bed and clasped my hands together and said the following alcohol induced prayer:

"Please football gods, please smile on the Washington Redskins for this 2005 season.

I know we were spoiled during the 80s and early 90s with 3 Super Bowl victories, countless playoff appearances and winning seasons. The Redskins were once of the most respected and feared franchises in the NFL.

I know we had to pay a price for that success, and the past 15 years have indeed been challenging. But, we have crossed that difficult bridge, and our leader has returned to lead us to glory once again. He too had to pay the price for his past success with a difficult 6-10 campaign in 2004. But we are all the wiser for having struggled and battled through losing seasons, coaching changes and even an ownership change.

These challenges over the years have challenged our loyalty as fans, some have probably dropped to the wayside, but in the meantime some have come aboard and aren't fully aware of our past success and glory years. Please give these newer fans a taste of our past success this year, for it will indeed be sweet.

As we are about to kickoff the 2005 season, I'm begging you Football Gods, please smile on the Washington Redskins, for we die hard fans haven't had many reasons to smile in quite a long time. I think we're long overdue and I don't think any collection of fans would be more appreciative than us.

We will accept the sweet nectar of success and eagerly drink down this 'kool-aid' as we call it. As you can tell, I myself have been drinking the sweet nectar of Guinness tonight, and where my thoughts my be hazily clouded with alcohol, my prayer to you Football Gods is focused and clear..."

HAIL TO THE 2005 REDSKINS!

Re: Season Prayer

Matty,

Perfect.

Just like the recent elections, this move is going to split the "Redskins" nation. All I ask is that since we are all Redskin fans, we support the QB that is chosen. Whether we agree with it or not, Brunell is our QB. Say we traded for half of Dallas's team, would you stop liking the Redskins? Just like TAFKAS, I'm a Skins fan first and winning is the most important thing to me. I really truly believe that once all of this dies down and we win our first game in Dallas in over 10 years, things will start looking up.

If only the other Skins fans thought like that...
