Former players from our First 4 Opponents
So far, there have been some pretty significant parallels between teams we have played and their ex-players/coaches on our squad.
Chicago - Blanch, Holdman/Chicago Defense Dallas - G. Williams/Bledsoe Seattle - Springs/Rhodes Denver - Portis/Shanahan and Denver Offense Our coaches/players had significant roles with our first four opponents and their players, do you think this helping, and more so, will it help with Denver this week. Could it be coincidence that we were ungodly on 3rd and long, or did Springs give some inside info on Seattle coverages? Clinton has to have some crazy insight on plays, playcalling, and tendencies ... I wonder how far that edge can go?

Hopefully past Denver because I think that's where most of the similarities end...
![]() Seriously though, I'm happy that Denver has NO running game to speak of.

Interesting post... I too wonder how much 'insider' knowledge can be transferred to the coaching staff to give one team the edge over another... everything's already on film, it seems.

I think it may help some....but I don't think in any way that game film will.
Hopefully he'll recognize some of the defensive fronts and be able to adjust. Either way, it won't matter 'cause we're going to beat that little white pony right off of their helmets!! |

I'm concerned about Denver's D, specifically that D-line.
Somehow they have those retreads from Cleveland playing great up front, they've been very stingy against the run. |

I wonder if there were any circumstances that had them looking better than they are (I hope so). Kind of how the Chiefs were nothing without Roaf.

They lost to the Dolphins. I've gotta take some hope away from that little nugget.

Re: Former players from our First 4 Opponents
Bottom line - they've regrouped from their first game blunder- three in a row, run defense is 4th in NFL, Invesco will be loud as hell.
We're going to have to be flat out ready for this one. |

Re: Former players from our First 4 Opponents
Toughest game of the year so far--Denver is always extremely strong at home. My guess is that they have one of the best homefield advantages.
And then it doesn't get easier at Arrowhead. Back-to-back on the road against AFC playoff teams. This is the hardest back to back patch of our schedule. That's what makes going 3-0 so vital for the overall season. We can drop these two games (I don't think we will, but I very much doubt we'll be favored in either) and still beat SF to go 4-2. Winning either of these road games is a real bonus. If we do, the media will begin to notice us, and not just Terry Bradshaw.

Re: Former players from our First 4 Opponents
I certainly think Denver is the tougher of the two.
KC is such a chameleon - hot one week cold the next. We just don't know which KC team will show up. Also, we shouldn't be quick to discount SF. It's a game should win, but they're front seven is very active and could present some problems for us. Let's just get pass Denver for now. |

Re: Former players from our First 4 Opponents
I love the story of George Halas who one day saw a scout from the opposing team in the stands taking notes during a Chicago practice. When he was pointed out, Halas walked up into the stands and handed the scout a copy of the Bears' playbook with the words, "Here take it. You won't be able to stop us anyway."

it all evens out, everyone in the lead knows what we are going to call anyways, heh. Hopefullywe will continue the trend of gradually not being so predicatable.

Re: Former players from our First 4 Opponents
KC still doesn't have a defense worth mentioning... denver is good on both sides. If KC is having OL problems we have a good chance though.
